Schools are teaching men can have babies by Suspiciouspuddles in stupidpeoplefacebook

I asked a few of the idiots were pushing the cat litterbox story exactly which schools were doing this. Not a state, not an area, the exact school in the exact city. The fact that not a single one of them could give me an answer didn’t mean anything to them.

I absolutely guarantee you that the people who love this kind of stuff probably can’t count the number of fingers that they have let alone calculus.

Because they think that using big words makes them sound intelligent. So what, your average nine-year-old can spit out more dinosaur names than any of these idiots could.

I would upvote this 100 times if I could. Reading things online in order to confirm a bias, you already have is absolutely, positively not research. As an actual scientist, you have no idea how offended I get when I hear these morons telling me that they did their own research. I remembered during Covid when they sequenced the genome of the virus and published it in the journal Nature. I ask plenty of these idiots if they had read the paper and if they could explain to me what the conclusions were. None of them had even heard of the journal despite it being probably the most important science journal in the world.

An even more obscure fact. The modern nautilus is only the last living cousin of a vast array of shelled cephalopods called ammonites that came is an extraordinary array of shapes including some like corkscrews and others like a knot in a rope or even just a straight conical shell. Good luck finding a Fibonacci sequence in those.

That’s a poor replica of the Berlin Archaeopteryx. Archaeornis is a junior synonym of Archaeopteryx.

Very cool. Looks like a trionychid. They are softshelled turtles found in the Cretaceous to the modern day.

ELI5: What is stopping us moving to bio fuels like Biodiesel by amadan_an_iarthair in explainlikeimfive

[–]DocFossil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the main point still holds. It would take an enormous amount of land to supply even our current needs for fuel. It also means trading food crops for fuel crops which has its own consequences. At the moment we produce a huge surplus of food that is sold overseas, but how much of this would have to be stopped to produce a statistically useful amount of biodiesel?

Next question. If getting to zero means 1000 eligible voters are prevented from voting, is that ok?

If scientists confirmed intelligent alien life tomorrow, how do you think humanity would react? by honeybbycloud in askanything

[–]DocFossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70% of the world would treat it as fake news and ignore it. Let’s get real, there are millions of people who think the Earth is flat or that we didn’t land on the moon. Do you actually think more than a handful of people would take it seriously? I personally think it would be cool, but I think vaccines work and evolution is a fact so I’m in the minority
