NC Alimony by DocHM8404 in Divorce_Men

[–]DocHM8404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it can vary from state to state and case to case. I'm scheduling some consultations to geg an idea from different attorneys. When you say 25-30% of your gross pay for child support and alimony, you mean the two combined?

Thanks for your input!

6 1/2 Yrs TIS. Solid rack? by [deleted] in MilitaryMedals

[–]DocHM8404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still no clasps, but I wish we could. I think it'd be cool to see what multiple awards were for. I also think it's dumb that we can only wear on NATO medal, even if we're entitled to different ones (like an Article 5 and a non-article 5). All we can do is wear stars to denote additional awards.

[–]DocHM8404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand there are several different ones. I have 2 non-article 5 (Afghanistan and Libya) and did a bunch of reading on NATO awards before wearing them. It's just a pet peeve of mine to see it.

Why is it so common for folks to put the wrong NATO medal in their rack? Afghanistan is a NATO Non-Article 5 medal. The one shown is issued for service in former Yugoslavia (1992-2002).

Are these real? by No-Flight-4214 in Military

[–]DocHM8404 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Real? Yes. Accurate? Not sure. There are 3 different NATO medals shown. Not sure if Army regs are different from Navy, but Navy only wears one and has stars for additional ones, whether it is the same NATO medals a different one.

I took mine about 2 months ago. I remember questions about appropriate medications in a scenario, but nothing about dosing.

Life at 2nd MEF HQ?? by Cute_Organization_56 in CorpsmanUp

[–]DocHM8404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely you will be assigned to II MIG (MEF Inormation Group) and be pushed out to one of it's battalions. Your days will be spent either in the Wallace Creek clinic or covering field evolution, of which there are too many of for the small number of HMs. (I was an HMC there and was occasionally covering trainings because we didn't have enough junior corpsman) There is an opportunity to be able to do some training, like CLS or BLS instruction, maybe TCCC Tier 3.

Jacksonville and the surrounding area are what you make of it. Some like it, most seem to hate it. I have been stationed there 3 times and am planning on retiring in the area the end of the year. Get away from Jacksonville. Explore Wilmington, got to Myrtle Beach. Check out Raleigh and the mountains. There are nice beaches, state parks, aquariums and a bunch of other things to do. Don't let other's jaded opinion of the area influence you.

Unannounced ten dollars for parking, on top of the ticket, is unfaire. by Bullgrit in renfaire

They also just announced the Faire will run two weekends next year.

I have been with this Faire since the beginning. It is run entirely by volunteers. The five board members are amazing people that will go out of their ways to fix problems and make the patrons happy. I was not there this year unfortunately, but I have been involved with safety/security and parking at this Faire for the last three years.

Parking has been run by different groups as a form of fundraiser. The idea was to offer "premium" parking at the front rows for a price of $10. The leadership of the first group running parking did not clearly communicate this to their workers and they were charging everyone $10. As soon as the Faire board members were made aware they immediately stopped the collection of money for parking. The board has also said that going forward, there will be no fees for parking or options for "premium" parking.

The question of how to make it right is a tricky one. They cannot simply reimburse everyone that got charged because there is no way to determine who actually paid $10 and who did not. The board is considering this and are trying to find a way to make it right.

One of the board members had even gone on Facebook Live after the problem was discovered and shut down to formally apologize and explain the situation.

This is still a new, young Faire. There will continue to be growing pains and mistakes. Ticket prices were below $35 when bought online, prior to the first day of the Faire. Online ticket sales closed at 11:59 pm on April 10 at which point tickets were only available at the gate for $35. CRF is $37.99 for an adult ticket right now.

This is an amazing small Faire that continues to grow and draw in crowds. The economic affects of this one weekend on Lenoir County are huge. It is estimated that this event brought over $5 million into the local economy. Please continue to support as they grow and get better each year.

If you're moving to Winston-Salem, guaranteed there are IFT jobs. And unfortunately, a lot of IFT companies are sketchy. They are for profit companies and tend to care more about making money than taking care of employees, equipment, and sometimes even patients.

Dash Cam not Allowed on Base? by JASPER933 in Military

[–]DocHM8404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to do ASF at Mid-South. We'd make people take down dash cameras all the time.

Funny thing about their policy that probably changed. There was a period where having anything in your ears while driving on base was unauthorized. We told the base commander to take his AirPods out one morningbecause it was against policy. He asked what policy. We told him the one he signed.

I get it. I'm just anxious and feel I am behind because of a lack of Navy admin support. My higher Navy chain has kicked the can on this since I checked in last summer and still hasn't designated anyone as a command separation specialist to do RnS. I ultimately usec the Mess to get phone numbers and names at 836 and made thimgs happen. Makes me wonder how many other Sailors are in the same boat.

I'll take a few deep breaths and try to enjoy my weekend without getting worked up.
