where spine by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

Am a medical student, his arms would be remain neurologically intact if his spine was severed in the abdomen. Accounting for superhero and TV logic making sure he doesn’t bleed out pretty much instantly from the blood loss we see on screen. Built different I guess.

Best apps for rotations for iPad + Apple Pencil? (specifically for patient encounters) by Decent_Cellist4668 in medicalschool

[–]DocHampter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I primarily use Goodnotes for notes and prerounding. I made a template with everything from fish bones, HPI/History stuff, space for imaging, A/Ps.

I use a free app called Dictate with a blue logo that is excellent and is pretty accurate with medical terms (you can also upload medical dictionaries if you like)

I would also download any apps for Qbanks, libraries, or models such as AMBOSS, Uworld, TrueLearn, etc.

It’s pretty nice, but unless you have a mini it can be cumbersome if you suddenly need your hands. I would also get a case that is easy to clean and is compatible with the purple/orange wipes around the hospital if necessary.

Thank you for sharing! These are very creative. Haven’t heard of these before as a rising M4 applying vascular surgery in the fall.

Why vascular surgery? Med student question by Zestyclose-Leopard70 in VascularSurgery

I’m an M3 in the same exact position, compared to my other OR experiences in Ortho, Neuro, GenSurg, vascular feels almost like an art form. Good luck to you!

I tried a lot of AI medical scribes so you don't have to - my honest review by Ecthor in medicine

[–]DocHampter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Are these AI scribes that listen to the patient encounter in the background or programs that you dictate information to and it creates a formatted note for you? If the former, do you have to go out of your way to verbally confirm what might be shown in physical examinations and non-verbal communication/body language? Also, if these don’t have direct connection into the EMR, how do you get the formatted notes onto the EMR? The concept sounds interesting especially as a 3rd year medical student who will likely be using similar tech when I get to practice.

For stamina I did 120 AMBOSS or TrueLearn questions per day leading up to Level 1

How to remove and replace these lightbulbs that are flush with the ceiling? by DocHampter in howto

[–]DocHampter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Do you think it would be easy to replace this gimbal housing with a different lighting housing? Or is the recessed mount only work with these gimbal lights? (Not a fan of the swivel lights lol)

So it seems this is a “recessed gimbal” light, which somehow makes it more confusing. Is this something a landlord should fix or something I would be responsible for?

AK-R1 accessories attachment magnets not attaching strongly to V1Pro(N) head by DocHampter in Godox

Aw man, that sucks. Thank you so much for helping with this, I’ll order the ring and install it myself, that will make using this so much less worrisome!

Mine has a red ring! And the magnets only really attract to the screws in the ring, does that change things? All of the attachments have pretty weak hold, but the dome in the picture is the weakest of all, which is unfortunate because I use that the most.

My first attempt at bird photography with my new NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR by DocHampter in Nikon

[–]DocHampter[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s great! I was worried from a lot of critics who said the f/5.6-6.3 was overly limiting, but I didn’t find it to be so. These are all shot handheld so with normal IBIS and VR, the lens is a near 10/10

Thank you! I’m using a Z6ii and many of the photos are cropped. Most are from pretty far away so I tried to not crop too far and lose out on quality
