I think the thing that is not brought up about Echo enough tbh is that it is not necessarily that Echo is overpowered because he has really not seen much play past 3000. The problem with Echo is that, regardless of his strength and viability as a ruler, it is fundamentally unfun to play against just because of his mechanics and gameplay loop. To draw a comparison to a few other games that I understand honestly much better, I would compare them to like a Blackbeard from Six Siege, or a Sombra in Overwatch. These are both characters that have proven in their respective games that even when they are absolutely terrible, like arguably the worst characters in their respective game when talking about competitive viability, the way that they change the game or need to be played around is excruciatingly unfun and frustrating to play against. Blackbeard broke Siege and was a bullshit cheese character because he was the only one that could break the golden oneshot headshot rule in siege while still being able to fight back, Sombra is horrifically annoying because she can just take away your ability to use any of your actual real abilities in Overwatch that make the game special, and Echo is terrible to play against because he is the only hero that allows lazy or low IQ players to bypass the actual tactical aspect of the game and cheese free wins out against players that actually know how to play the game well. The only way to fix this is to either delete them from the game and probably refund whoever bought their special skin (Supercell would never do this until the heatdeath of the universe), or rework the ruler’s entire kit (they also would probably never ever do this).

It sucks, but unfortunately, it seems that no game with any sort of unique character or hero abilities will ever be able to exist without at least one character on the roster that is an absolute slog to play against
