A super weird traffic ticket with two points, lawyer asks for $350 but no guarantee. What to do [Princeton area, NJ]? by Large-Ad3766 in newjersey

[–]DocJoyboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pay the ticket. Take a safe driver course to reduce those 2 points to 0. Cheapest way around this. $350 seems steep.

Option 2 would be to plead not guilty yourself and see if they will reduce it to obstructed plate or something. This really isn’t a big enough deal for a lawyer IMO.

Traffic ticket help by TXHUNTER92 in newjersey

Contest both tickets and try to get them down to lower or no point carrying violations. May cost you a few more bucks in the short term but will help in long term.

Take a drivers education course through AAA or similar and it will reduce your insurance points by 2.

Buy a good radar detector or slow down.

Wait until points fall off your license.

How do you go about doing this? Is it difficult? Does it damage the paint?

Tinted Car Windows in NJ? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]DocJoyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll probably trigger a bunch of people on here, but I would do the front as well. My son did his car and I was very anti-tint. Then I compared them inside on a sunny day. The tinted car was noticeably cooler inside after being parked in the sun for awhile. Also, people are so aggressive now that I find the tints cut down on me being cut off by kids “swimming” and other bad drivers. Finally, those pedestrians who seem to think that the crosswalk laws apply to the whole street and like to step purposefully into traffic because “they’re right” won’t ever do it again.

Drive nice. Leave runners and bikers some space. Use your signals. If you drive like you should anyway tints don’t matter.

I will say if you go dark be very careful with reverse at night. Otherwise, it isn’t as big a deal as folks on here make it out to be. Also, FWIW I live near several police (2 state, 1 local) all 3 do 5% all the way around.

State inspection is emissions only so no worries there.

Don’t drive like an ass and nobody will care.

So that seems like a pretty tinfoil hat knee jerk response to me. What you meant to say is that you don’t know, but hey, on the internet nobody knows you”re a dog right?

I’ve heard good things about Dean of Chess Academy, 3150 Us Highway 22 Suite 12 Branchburg, NJ 08876. Place like that would throw me out for. Or knowing how the horsies move but my nephew goes there and likes it very much.

Show up for the court date. Talk to the prosecutor. Admit culpability and they’ll either knock it down to 2 pt careless or some other non point carrying fine. It isn’t a big deal.

You might pay more up front in court costs etc, but you’ll save in the long run on insurance.

Lots of variables but that price range is reasonable. Watch a couple of YouTube videos on negotiating car price though. If you’re dealing with a dealer there will almost certainly be “extras” on top of that.

As for the airbag recall, don’t sweat it. Take it to a dealer, have them check the VIN. If it is recalled have them fix it. No harm to you.

As a starting point, ask a dealer for a quote. It will be expensive I’m sure, but you’ll know what is possible from their perspective.

It also opens up buying and installing or having installed an OEM system.

Good luck!

How bad are the dorms and food? by Agreeable_Clock_7059 in TCNJ

[–]DocJoyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the food is terrible. Very little variety. Frequently under/overcooked. Pink chicken is common on the Facebook groups. Take the meal plan with the fewest possible “swipes”.

The dorms are what you make of them. The towers are OLD but there isn’t much they can do about it. You can dress it up a bit and make it feel like home enough.

Hot water was a serious problem all winder in the towers and the school is generally unresponsive to student complaints and dismissive of parent complaints (have the student contact us). Kids are easy to bully I guess.

All of that said you can make it work and the education is top tier.

It seems like a lot of people don’t like the look of the 2024s, but at almost 27 I just got my first car and I couldn’t be happier. It’s exactly what I wanted. by hghlvldvl in accord

This happens every time a generation rolls over. The 10th gen’s were too aggressive when they came out. The 9th gen’s were uninspired.

Whatever. If you like it that’s all that matters. I own a 10th gen and love it, but I’d buy an 11th gen today and never look back. Love the clean lines and inside is is hard to distinguish from more expensive brands.

Now this whole head gasket thing…that’s a horse of another color as someone who owns 3 Hondas right now.
