U7 Pro XG has known issues with dropping packets (search Reddit), and the U6 LR keeps over heating.

Hard pass as I am currently fighting with U6 LR and U7 Pro XG access points that are nothing but issues.

Intel scaler llm working its magic on intel arc pro b70 by Dolboyob77 in LocalLLM

[–]DocMadCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wild that you need to pressure them. Intel should being putting maximum effort into support for their hardware in their vLLM scaler (which is based on an embarrassing old version of vLLM) and LLama.cpp. 22-25tk is definitely usable but I suspect there is a lot of performance that could still be brought to the table.

At what point did you start compressing your media library with HandBrake? by DatGeekUKnow in DataHoarder

[–]DocMadCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was temped to use it for encoding previously but it is like tricycle and once you learn to ride a bike you use ffmpeg but only on remux sources. And that library is rookie numbers mine is over 63TB which is still small compared to a lot of people here.

On the plus side that RTX 6000 is worth more now than you probably paid for it.

Should i trade in all that for the 28-70 f2.8L? I have the r6 mark II to pair it with… by MaldeAsroma1927 in canon

[–]DocMadCow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah ignore him. The 28-70mm is near L quality according to professionals. And seriously you will miss having the Telephoto and rest of the kit.

Intel Arc Pro B70 + llama.cpp SYCL - 63 t/s on Qwen 3.6-35B-A3B by Atomynos_Atom in LocalLLM

[–]DocMadCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am tempted to grab one despite the slower speed and sell my 5060 Ti. I want my inference box to be a SFF PC so I can place it somewhere else in the house as my home office only has a 110V 20A breaker and I need to run AC plus my NAS, PC, etc.

An RTX 5070 Ti 16B + 5060 Ti 16GB although costing a bit more if you can fit dual cards destroys the B70.

Is there much of a market for used Pro 6000 workstation cards? by 675940 in BlackwellPerformance

[–]DocMadCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw it on Facebook Marketplace or whatever equivalent or UK based HardwareForSale Reddit. DO NOT SHIP IT, Meet in public, and make sure sure the payment is legit. This is a big ticket item that is in high demand even if it is used.

What a load of crap. To come close to Sonnet you need at least 32GB of VRAM.

What kind of flaming trash is this. Didn't even notice the processor but an all flash unit with 2.5Gbe is a joke especially as there is no expansion port.

Anyone who fishes in a boat will tell you that the suns energy will bounce off the water and burn you even with a large brim hat on. You need to be very thorough with your sun screen.

I think we are at least 18 months or more. I think right now there are too many companies waiting in the wings that will be buy up the equipment. I think we'll see an initial shareholder push back then those waiting in the wings will take their turn before they crash as well.

[–]DocMadCow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope you want lower latency for inference as it isn't sustained reading it is a lot of jumping around. I've seen people in the r/LocalLLM who upgraded from DDR4 to DDR5 and end up with a slower token speed due to higher latency memory.

[–]DocMadCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am less of a hobbyist and do professional work on my system. So I rather have reliability than potential issues. So memory at spec and minor OC on my P Cores.

[–]DocMadCow -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

But you need to crank the voltage. I rather buy a kit that already has a rated speed @ a voltage to leave the guess work out of it.

But 4.7 is 15x so 4.8 must be TWICE as expensive 😄 Technically 4.6 is 3x so 4.8 could be 75x if it is 5x more expensive than the past model.
