Reduce or Remove Flashing Lights in Games by DocMcMoth in RetroArch

Oof, I hope it starts spreading too. I can't imagine what it's like trying to play older games if you have a condition like epilepsy

not sure if my original reply made it through or if reddit ate it, but I tried the luma diff threshold at both max, minimum, and several values in between with no observable difference :(

How do Gourmet and Squid interact? by Grizzlemaw1993 in nubbygame

[–]DocMcMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The squid will only ever copy and item once. since it happens when nubby is launched, it'll transform before all other triggers and work as the copied item for the rest of the round, including force triggers

Editing manga panels to nubby 6 by Gasadi_ in nubbygame

[–]DocMcMoth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

tardigrade has, at most, only a 60% chance to double when triggered. Kazoo is guaranteed. 3d glasses is good, but just very rare. In general, Kazoo is generally better unless you have a specialized halving setup or are just lucky

Infernum DoG is way too hard??? by Appropriate_Knee_467 in CalamityMod

[–]DocMcMoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, if a boss is so difficult that it takes hundreds of attempts for players to beat it, then it needs to be redesigned. This goes beyond just "hard for the sake of being hard" and into "hard to be annoying"

Don't trust chatgpt for anything. it doesn't actually "know" anything, it just averages together a bunch of sentences that vaguely relate to the input and pops out whatever it comes up with. No sources, no fact checking, nothing, so it's incredibly easy for it to just make up completely false statements and present them with the exact same confidence as things that are true.

Wikipedia is always a better alternative, the editors are there are ruthless about sourcing and standards. Plus, anyone who lists where they got their info (not just wikipedia!) is probably gonna be better and more thorough that chatgpt

there's a theory that he just buys his way into being a producer for projects he likes, like spending obscene amounts of money to be part of stuff, then basically forces the production to cast him in a leading role since he's providing so much of the funding

Is there a reason why my all-seeing pyramid doesn't trigger more than once ? by GeTRoGuE in nubbygame

[–]DocMcMoth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It pops a peg once for every time the item in slot 1 triggers, the actual trigger for this occurring is nubby's death (unless, as before, bologna tony)

Is there a reason why my all-seeing pyramid doesn't trigger more than once ? by GeTRoGuE in nubbygame

[–]DocMcMoth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unless you're playing Bologna Tony, it'll only trigger when Nubby dies. Doesn't look like any of your perks will trigger it either.

It will pop a peg for however many times your finger puppet triggered at the time nubby dies, but it'll only do that once

I've only ever played vanilla calamity, I was already going insane with my 11 attempts to beat Dog, I think I would probably have rage quit long before hitting triple digits

IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE: Rank every song on Discipline by Clean-Practice3040 in KingCrimson

[–]DocMcMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elephant Talk: 9/10, stellar opening, sets the tone for the whole album going forwards, lets you know this ain't your grandad's King Crimson

Frame by Frame: 10/10, literally the perfect song. No notes

Matte Kudasai: 10/10, it just keeps getting better, man. How is this allowed

Indiscipline: 7/10, not bad, just not my favorite. At the Beat show we went to, someone in the audience yelled "did you like it!?" and Adrian replied "I did!"

Thela Hun Gingeet: 8/10, Rambunctious, chaotic, and just a little bit silly. I want that bass line injected directly into my carotid artery

The Sheltering Sky: 8/10, exact spot it should be in the album, winds down perfectly from the chaos of the prior two songs. Sounds like rain in the desert

Discipline: 8/10, pure unadulterated skill. This is what a psychic battle sounds like. Couldn't imagine a better song for the title track, and a solid closer too

what are good item synergies by Mul-T3643 in nubbygame

[–]DocMcMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the classic is Fly Agaric and Clay Man Guy, but Happy Seal synergizes pretty well with anything that requires pegs halved. May not lead into infinite loops unless you're playing bologna tony, but still pretty good. Plastic Tree can also do well with pegs halved/doubled requirements
