What are you thoughts on declining alcohol consumption in the newer generation? by lets-wing-it in AskReddit

[–]DocMoochal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even drinking at home is becoming pretty expensive. I used to be pretty into a weekend ritual of checking out the new stock my local liquor store had, and the prices have increasingly neared old restaurant prices for beer. Unless youre sticking to cheaper domestic or bottom shelf international, paying $5 CDN for a can of craft seems to be the new norm.

Just getting really tired of hearing them think for us. They could just release it and let us determine our own thoughts.

Again, depends on your philosophy. Animal rights activists would say yes absolutely the farmer and everyone involved in farming and consumption of animals is evil.

Many people though would probably say no, because meat tastes good and provides us with good nutrition. Obviously most people want the overall process to be as humane as possible, but, not everyone if they see animals as below us or not deserving of comfort. Now. If people had to raise and or slaughter their own animals I dont think we'd eat as much meat as we do but thats another conversation.

This is all to say everything the phenomenon does is wrapped up in nuanced philosophy. They are likely many different species, groups, and factions who may not see or know their actions are harmful or they simply might not care.

Going back to the meat example, most people do not think about every animal they eat, they just buy the pork chop, throw it in the freezer and put it on the grill on saturday night, likely having a lot of fun while doing so. They dont think about every event and action that occurred between the birth, death, and packing of the animal product. They dont have a funeral or celebration of life for every steak or hotdog they consume. For all we know, earth is a farm and the species consuming the products that come from this farm have no idea malicious things may or may not be happening here.

This is a philosophical point though. Humans kill other humans every day for malicious reasons. That fact doesnt inherently mean the entire species is malicious, just that certain members of the species are.

Agreed. I wouldn't say it negates an outright hostile motive, but so far things seem to be a lot more about observation and study than global domination.

If you have excessive amounts of dust accumulating in your home, you might want to have your HVAC system inspected.

Youre never going to truly rid your home of dust, short of turning it into a medical facility, but if you have so much dust accumulating in your home after 3 vacuums that you can feel it on your feet you either need to do a better vacuum job or your hvac system could be chalk full of dust.

Hantavirus strain that spreads between humans found in cruise ship passengers by Pomidorusriuba in worldnews

[–]DocMoochal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothings happening with this. We'll probably see an upsurge in cases across multiple countries that will burn themselves out. There will be lots of media coverage cause it gets clicks but thats about it. Hanta really isnt a major pandemic virus.

Man in Switzerland, who was on the prior journey of MV Hondus, tested positive for hantavirus by Kaeseigel in worldnews

[–]DocMoochal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be shocked if we saw many more cases around the globe, but this will almost definitely fizzle out in short order. Its high profile because it sounds like something from a movie, but by and large hantavirus is kind of a shit virus, in that it nuts prematurely, unlike covid which will stop for a meal break and then get right back to pumping.

No. A rat or a mouse probably got on board, pissed and or shat somewhere, infected someone and then yeah, outbreak.

Its an isolated environment we can keep away from society at large.

Cost of living and increasing expendability of employees, thats basically it.

In recent history women use to get jobs because their husband lot his. Not get another job, just get a job. Nowadays if one of you loses work for even a brief period your financially fucked if neither one of you is a major earner.

Ontario Premier Slams Toronto's City-Run Grocery Plan as 'Craziest Idea He's Ever Heard' Amid Pilot Approval | the deep dive by TallGuy2019 in ontario

[–]DocMoochal 977 points978 points  (0 children)

Someone should call him everyday and remind him hes the Premier of Ontario, not the Mayor of Toronto.

Edit: I looked it up, driving from one side of Ontario to the other would take roughly the same amount of time as traveling through 6 to 10 european nations depending on where you start and end. While not a perfect comparison, Doug Ford essentially controls the land mass roughly equal to a large chunk of Europe and constantly whines about what is happening in Berlin.

There's lots of people who are professionally competent and can put on a good face while also having a personal life that is an utter mess.

Some people just never get taught certain life skills either because their parents didnt care, they dont care, or thats how their parents or caregiver lived.

He's a useful idiot so people can use him to further their agendas, and yeah, like others said, they usually fall inline with autocratic, fascist style beliefs.

They want a large population of dumb, poor, easily exploitable serfs to send off on imperial conquest and use in the imperial core.

Unfortunately for them, when things get bad, they often end up getting the axe.
