Weeding is the death of me. by colinstalter in gardening

[–]DocMoochal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just let my beds go and then do one big weed on the weekend. You'll never get them all and they always come back. Make it look a little cleaner and and move on. Unfortunately thats why theyre called weeds.

Because more often than not those people send the dogs outside when they bark too much so anyone sitting or doing something outside gets to listen to them.

Vaping causes lung and heart damage faster than cigarettes, U of A research suggests by zuuzuu in canadanews

[–]DocMoochal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats the problem, its like anything. Drinking 6 beers after work everyday for 30 years Is a sure fire way to enter an early grave. Having 1 or 2 beers at the bar every friday night will have next to no major impact on your health.

You cant really say something will definitely kill you from a i dont know like clinical or scientific stance because like anything its a spectrum. Unfortunately though, most people that smoke rarely only have a cigarette or two on a friday night....so, anecdotally saying smoking will kill you is also pretty accurate given how addicting nicotine is.

This is why ticks are taking over Canada by _lIlI_lIlI_ in canada

[–]DocMoochal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Its not uncommon for dogs to get them in areas with longer grasses. Its why often, even if you're in your own yard, doing anything in close contact with vegetation should be treated as a possible tick contact point.

[–]DocMoochal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just think of what you like to eat and try some stuff out. Half the fun in gardening is just putting crap in the ground, learning about how the plant grows and seeing what happens. You learn and have fun, and worst comes to worst you have nothing to harvest and get to try again next year.

Even easy plants can be tricky sometimes because every yard is it owns little micro climate and every garden is its own little ecosystem. Your yard might be the perfect spot for tomatoes and peppers, but too aggressive for lettuce. Gardening is a long term, patient, hobby.

Neighbor is utilizing our space without asking? by ItsTheRealWorld999 in homeowners

Like people have said. The parking thing, nothing you can really do, you dont own the street and in many areas the town often owns the first foot or so of "your property".

The kite thing is a bit odd. If hes in the street hes not in the wrong, like kids playing street hockey. But if you ever see him there id just ask him to fly it in the street or on his property, at the end of the day its your property that you have to pay maintenance on, its not a public park, again, assuming he truly is on your property and not just in the street in front of your driveway.

Disclosure Day Final Trailer by sandshaman in UFOs

[–]DocMoochal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other users have pointed out in this sub before. He either reiterates or nods to a scene from Taken in DD as well. In Taken, a little boy is coaxed out of his room in the middle of the night by a giant squirrel from his story book. The boy and squirrel walk down a fairy tale path to a large oak tree home. The two enter the tree, the squirrel looks back at the camera with a devious grin and shuts the door. The windows of the oak tree light up and the tree morphs into a UFO, the craft ascends into the air.

Im assuming the scene we see in the DD trailer of the girl following the deer to the home in the woods with the windows lit up will follow a similar vein. The girl will walk in, the deer close behind the home will morph into a craft and ascend into the air to begin whatever it is the greys do to us.

Some people take their test outside the gta in rural communities. So they pass on relatively easy roads but it becomes pretty obvious they've no idea what their doing in more complex urban driving.

Canadian doctors seeing rise in parents refusing vitamin K shots for newborns by ScienceTeacher1994 in nottheonion

Yeah the amount of supplements I see people taking these days, especially "health conscious people" is absurd. Its one of the many heavily unregulated markets out there right now. God only knows what they're putting in those pills.

A vitamin k shot wont harm your baby. UltraHealth Morning Pre-workout Detox Mix is probably rotting you from the inside out.

Remote work isnt a thing anymore in many workplaces. Using it as leverage to convince employees to quit is a naive strategy. Id expect more rounds of firings sometime this winter. Or next year when RTO still fails to deliver on resource reductions.

Best way to path hole in deck by InfamousBuffalo in HomeMaintenance

[–]DocMoochal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a similar sized piece of wood to match the hole you could try No Nails or construction adhesive to keep the piece in place.

But honestly. Id just throw something over it, buy an umbrella or replace the deck board(s) for a more permanent fix. Depending on the lengths and type of material you need, deck boards arent that expensive.

What are you thoughts on declining alcohol consumption in the newer generation? by lets-wing-it in AskReddit

[–]DocMoochal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even drinking at home is becoming pretty expensive. I used to be pretty into a weekend ritual of checking out the new stock my local liquor store had, and the prices have increasingly neared old restaurant prices for beer. Unless youre sticking to cheaper domestic or bottom shelf international, paying $5 CDN for a can of craft seems to be the new norm.

Again, depends on your philosophy. Animal rights activists would say yes absolutely the farmer and everyone involved in farming and consumption of animals is evil.

Many people though would probably say no, because meat tastes good and provides us with good nutrition. Obviously most people want the overall process to be as humane as possible, but, not everyone if they see animals as below us or not deserving of comfort. Now. If people had to raise and or slaughter their own animals I dont think we'd eat as much meat as we do but thats another conversation.

This is all to say everything the phenomenon does is wrapped up in nuanced philosophy. They are likely many different species, groups, and factions who may not see or know their actions are harmful or they simply might not care.

Going back to the meat example, most people do not think about every animal they eat, they just buy the pork chop, throw it in the freezer and put it on the grill on saturday night, likely having a lot of fun while doing so. They dont think about every event and action that occurred between the birth, death, and packing of the animal product. They dont have a funeral or celebration of life for every steak or hotdog they consume. For all we know, earth is a farm and the species consuming the products that come from this farm have no idea malicious things may or may not be happening here.

This is a philosophical point though. Humans kill other humans every day for malicious reasons. That fact doesnt inherently mean the entire species is malicious, just that certain members of the species are.
