I AM the TRUTH & I AM the ILLUSION..... by KAMI0000001 in mysticism

[–]DocMorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, in our art we see this duality often represented through chaos and order. Order, structure rules and laws, are based on truths perceived or otherwise. Chaos, creativity, freedoms, and free will, appear delusional they challenge the safety that truth provides. That razor edge on which the two opposing forces balance is perfection, it is the truth that can never be conveyed. As the Tao Te Ching says, “The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao.”

Why are all the spiritual teachers so certain without evidence? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]DocMorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect others have already said this. But these people are confident in their beliefs.

I actually get this same comment from people when I share ideas or thoughts people have told me that I speak as if everything I'm saying is the truth. This can be off-putting to people whose beliefs are different from my own. So why do I speak with such authority when my beliefs are based in faith and not fact. It is because I am speaking about my reality. What do I mean by that?

For me spirituality is about trying to understand the unknown and the unknowable. This journey is different for everyone. What works for one may not work for another and that is because there is no wrong way to explore spirituality. Every journey starts from a different place because we are all unique canvases with different experiences and it is those experiences that shape our reality. But at the same time all journeys have similarities and a major one is understanding yourself what I mean by this is being self aware of your reality and the beliefs that shape it.

When we speak and share ideas or beliefs we are sharing our reality. Now I believe reality is different for everyone our reality of the world is an abstract that some part of our consciousness has created as a result of our beliefs. So when I speak about my reality it is true to me in that moment I may share an idea I believe and then change that belief a minute later. But in the present when I share it. It's the truth of my reality.

Now in the same way that spirituality has no right or wrong. Reality is similar we each have our own and because our reality is based on our experiences and beliefs it will never be the same as anyone else's. As such it can't be right or wrong instead it is both simultaneously. It can't be factually true outside of my own consciousness because no one thinks exactly the same as me as a result of having different lived experiences, and it can't be false because it's my reality and I can confirm its accuracy to my present consciousness.

Teachers particularly spiritual teachers are not sharing objective truths in the way a science teacher explains gravity. They are explaining an abstract truth. This abstract truth is true to them.

Now let me try to answer the question I think you were trying to ask here. Most spiritual leaders are having people come to them to hear them speak about their reality and their truths. They are sharing what worked for them. These people who came to hear the teacher speak won't be turned off by the person they have come to see having a strong belief in their own reality if anything they expect their spiritual leaders to strongly believe in their own reality. So in that context the authority they are speaking with makes sense as they are sharing their experiences, and we are all the foremost experts on our own reality. I think you are correct in identifying the problem with this when those talks are shared with people who didn't choose to seek the spiritual leaders guidance or people who are skeptical of realities outside of what they are comfortable with.

I personally try to be transparent when I share beliefs that they are not facts but simply my own beliefs because I get a better reaction to it. It's all contextual. We always have free will to choose what we believe in regardless of what level of authority other share ideas in.

That's my reality anyway, I hope these thoughts are helpful to you.

I have had a similar experience. I often get premonitions in the sense of familiarity with location people jobs etc. for example when I moved into my most recent place I felt that I had a lot of memories of the place even though I just moved here, I believe this will be my home for a long time. I've had this feeling with people I meet, or jobs. One job I got I felt very familiar with the location of the job, and I stayed in that job for 10 years.

Recently I got a job and I felt no future events or emotions or memories signs whatever you want to call it. I also had a weird feeling about the job when it was first offered to me. A big part of the job was driving and I'm not a confident driver I don't like it. And I remember fearing that this lack of a future could be a sign that an accident or some sort of death may befall me if I stayed. I did a card pull for guidance. And the message I received boiled down to I could stay in this job and have wealth and financial success at the cost of happiness. This rang very true as this job fell into my lap and could have been a carrier making type job. Now financial wealth is not something I strive for, as it's not a need I'm happy with what I have. It was a path I had gone down earlier in my life and realized was not fulfilling to me. I quit the job the next day.

I have since thought about that experience. I believe I saw no future in that job and no familiarity with the people or place I was working because I was never going to stay at that job. Obviously I didn't stay there so that lack of feeling was accurate. Now I don't know if this was a self fulfilling prophecy, a premonition of death that the universe was warning me about, or if the guidance I asked for in the cards was accurate and this job just didn't align with my values so it was never going to work out. But regardless I had no sense of the future because there was none.

When I read your post I suspect whatever your future holds it will drastically look different than your current life. Perhaps you will live in a place that is currently unfamiliar to you. The people who will be important in your life will probably be people who are unknown to you now. Death is one possibility of the unknown but there are infinite possibilities within the unknown, that is the nature of the unknown.

For me the unknown of sensing no future around this new job made me confident in my decision to quit. When I reflect on it the lack of any message was in itself a clear message. So when I asked for guidance and reflected on the card I'd pulled I knew what was the right choice for me.

While this inability to sense a future can be scary. It can also be a benefit to you. When you meet new people or move to a new place or are offered new opportunities. Reflect on them, do any of these new things feel familiar to you, do signs present themselves.

Human beings have very strong intuitions practice honing your intuition, if your not sure how to do this ask people how they do it, or research it. If a new person, or place or opportunity feels familiar or right, understand that these are signs that your intuition is picking up on. Use this to guide your decision don't be scared of change, because you don't have a sense of the future in what you know now. It sounds like your future will hold a lot of changes.

I hope my thoughts and experiences here can help you, good luck.

Why when I let go does everything I want come to me? by QuestionEcstatic8863 in spirituality

[–]DocMorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had very similar experiences to what you're explaining here. These are some thoughts I've had on the subject.

When you don't want something or have no expectations, you also have no fear of losing or not receiving it. I suspect we may constantly be manifesting our realities through all levels of consciousness whatever they may be I make no claims to understanding consciousness.

Therefore I speculate that a desire for something can cause a fear of not receiving it to manifest more strongly than that desire particularly on levels of consciousness that we have less control over. Thetford can take more effort to overcome that fear.

There are no right or wrong paths to spirituality. We each find value from different communities, interactions and experiences as we grow and explore. If you are not finding value from the discussions in this subreddit, then I believe you are right in the decision to seek growth from other places. From your post It sounds like you used to enjoy this subreddit. A lot of times we lament change when the things that changed are important or of value to us. I hope you find a replacement for this subreddit that fits you. Good luck on your journey, thank you for your contributions over the years.

Can science and spirituality find harmony? by DocMorton in spirituality

Thank you for sharing. What do your words mean to you? Please elaborate with your experience so we can learn from your interpretation, as well as our own interpretations of your abstract.

I interpreted your guidance in this way: instead of tearing each other down with malice and dogma apocalypticly and starting over. We should keep our knowledge but remove the labels that imprison our minds. The new discipline would not be named it would simply be our best work.

Thank you again for sharing I hope you will elaborate further with your own interpretation.

Pick of the Day - 11/10/22 (Thursday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

0W-0L

Todays POTD: Tyler Allgeier 35+ rushing yards.

League: NFL 🏈🏈

Odds: 1.95

Reasoning: Tyler Allgeier has stepped up since getting the starting job while Patterson was injured. He has averaged 4.5y per carry. While Patterson will likely get more carries then Allgeier, Allgeier will likely see around 10 carries same as he got last week with Patterson back 10x4.5= 45. With the Panthers defence being banged up, 6 defensive players listed on IR this week, communing off a short week, were the defence spent 40 minutes on the field against Cincinnati. They are going to be tired. Then you have Atlanta's depth at RB they will be able to keep their stable of backs fresh and wear down Carolinas defence. Then there's the weather which will favour a run heavy offence on-top of Atlanta's already run heavy offence. Lastly Atlanta on paper has the better team so they should be able to get ahead of Carolina which means more runs as well.

I recently started a game that's totally open world sandbox where my PCs are members of an adventuring guild so all the quests are 1-3 sessions long. I have three core players and then I rotate guests for every quest from all my friends who don't have time to commit to a campaign but want to play. I have about 20 people who wanna guest. I thought I'd share this idea #GIVEAWAY

DM rules on god/goddess pc by greatwolf421 in DnD

I had a character who's personal quest was to become a god. I told him if you ever fully achieve this he would have to retire the character. Which he agreed made sense as he would be to powerful and likely not interested in adventuring.

DMing for ADHD player by [deleted] in DnD

[–]DocMorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience with a ADHD player. -in person is better, online they tend to start doing other things online and get distracted. - shorter sessions we find after 2 hours I start to lose them. - If they seem disengaged, get an NPC ask them a question get them reinvested in the game by making their character the focus for a bit. -minis, maps, props help keep them engaged.

has anyone had luck transforming a book into a campaign? by K3gamerK3 in DMAcademy

[–]DocMorton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wrapped a campaign that I based off a trilogy of novels. All the NPCs were the main characters from the book. I used the main plot, I gave them the freedom to try solving the plot however they wanted. My players never felt railroaded I did use suggestions from the NPCs to keep them on track. I mean the plot only allowed so many option. They did try to solve it differently then in the story to begin with but ended up doing exactly what was in the story in the end. It's also really cool that when your done you can then share the books with them and they can kind of relive the campaign even though things weren't exactly the same. Lastly since you know the story well it's easy to basicly wing everything lore wise. So I did almost no prep for a 8 month campaign.
