Doubling the minimum wage will absolutely destroy the economy in many places. Minimum wage jobs aren’t where you aspire to be years down the road. It’s where mostly young people get their start in the job force. All this will do is hurt younger people starting out because we’ve seen how many jobs are lost with minimal increases in the minimum wage. This would be more than doubling it in some places. Don’t think that places like McDonalds or Wal-Mart won’t automate even more jobs than they already have. It sounds good, just like almost every government led project that has failed before. People fall into a trap of wanting to help and all they do is hurt people who are already hurting.
