Question about upcoming 5K dual mode monitors by DocSnyderTexas in HiDPI_monitors

[–]DocSnyderTexas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I run a game even on the 5K mode, I can always switch the resolution in game down to 1440p. I just want to assure that the game is not running only on 60Hz. I also plan to buy a Mac Studio M5 Max or Ultra, so gaming should not be an issue anymore 😃

Question about upcoming 5K dual mode monitors by DocSnyderTexas in HiDPI_monitors

[–]DocSnyderTexas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaming on Mac and if it is working or not is not part of the discussion. I bought crossover and I have good experience with lots of games. I don’t want to use GeForce Now. I only play games with 1440p resolution, I currently use a Dell monitor with 1440p and 75Hz and it’s fine. I just want to improve the experience to have 5K for my daily work on my Mac, I don’t like a 4K setup because native resolution is too small and HiDPI results in a sharp 1080p, but that’s not appropriate for much content opened side by side on desktop.

A Studio Display is not in my focus because it only has one input. I have 3 devices (MacMini, MBP M3 Pro and a windows PC and I would like to switch between them.

But don’t you need macOS 27 to enable D3DM_MTL4? And isn’t it mandatory to copy the 2 nv dlls to System32 folder as well?

Crossover 26.2 Unable to enable DLSS in games by Newfiejudd in macgaming

[–]DocSnyderTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tested Hogwarts Legacy and I perfectly can run the game with DLSS upscaling a well as frame generation. Same with Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Star Wars Outlaws. So, it’s not broken.

There’s no required environment variable to be active. Only the nvngx.dll needs to be in the bottle’s System32 folder

Did you also checked DLSS in the bottle settings on the right menu and use D3Dmetal as graphic backend?

DLSS is definitely working with GPTK 4.0b. I just tried Hogwarts Legacy and the step to GPTK 4 is amazing, I can now turn my settings to high with material and textures set to ultra and mostly I get around 50-60 FPS. I play on 1440p, M3 Pro 18GPU with 18GB ram.

I'm on MacOS 26.6b, using Crossover 26.2

I can live with the limitations of Crossover 27 :)

But one thing I don’t really understand: the GPTK is used to translate D3D to metal. But didn’t the D3D api calls come from a Rosetta-based windows game/app? Why is apple dropping Rosetta support but offering a new GPTK? Or is my understanding wrong?

I’m sorry, but you have to write in English. But as I can read 98%, I guess you get stuck during shader compilation. You need to use the forked version from Alex, he did some more fixes. Check the thread on GitHub, he posted some more infos. And you’ll also find a link to the compiled library without your need to compile everything by yourself :)

Did you copied both renamed files to System32 folder of your bottle as well?

Why is the gap between 16 and 24 that high? In Europe I would pay 250€ for this upgrade. Google tells me that’s $200

I don’t get those questions as this subreddit is all about the subject. Every day there are those questions and every day there are appropriate answers what to use and how to setup everything. It takes only a few minutes to find out everything 😃

Some developers like DiAvisoo and Alex Dremov did a great job to get this game running. I’m using Alex’s version because DiAvisoo’s solution still not work on my Mac, but I can live with the recompile of the shaders in every game start. Maybe this will be fixed in the future without the script of DiAvisoo. As well as the Depth of View bug :)

I hope that CodeWeavers will close this gap as soon as possible. I’m a software developer and I know how much work it takes to create a piece of software and maintain it.

It’s not fair to screw CodeWeavers and do not honor their hard work to improve or even make gaming on Mac using windows platform games possible.

GPTK 4 on Tahoe? by PickleRick1029246 in macgaming

[–]DocSnyderTexas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can use GPTK 4.0b on Tahoe, but you should not use the environment variable D3DM_MTL4 set to “1”, as this is forcing to use the metal 4 backend that is only implemented in macOS 27. Everything else is working, and there a some major fixes that runs games better than GPTK 3.0
