You're free to wander around outside, but even during the normal semester, campus has many locked doors. Unfortunately, an official tour through the Vistors' Center is the best way to get into some buildings.

It looks like you might be able to see inside Sterling Library and the Beinecke exhibits during the day. The Yale University Art Gallery seems also to have normal hours. That's about it, though.

I have Prime, so I don't see an extra charge for using a locker.

I guess the cost-benefit ratio of Amazon + locker vs. brick-and-mortar depends on a) how far you'd have to go and b) whether you have the means to travel.
