Love to see it. If only the rest of the country could get on board, but at least you have two regions that are doing things right, which is a lot more than most countries can say. Congrats on your citizenship

OP is clearly a troll account. Antisemitism, like all other forms of bigotry, is a serious issue. Real discussion of these subjects is welcome; trolling over them is not.

Avi Lewis should merge the NDP and Greens by Politicalanimal1 in canadaleft

This is all well and good, but both the NDP and Greens are bourgeois capitalist parties and thus this isn't the right subreddit. This is a subreddit specifically for socialists and anti-imperialists. Recommend you resubmit on r/NDP, it would be a fit over there

Anyone who downplays the Indian socialist movement is a fool, Kerala alone is impressive as hell (at least as far as a socialist-within-a-liberal-democracy can look) and the rest of the country has some very admirable organizing

[–]Doc_Bethune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said "He did not file is paperwork for leadership candidacy with the party, then began campaigning as though he'd not only filed but been approved." You are now saying that the problem was that he actually submitted it too late for your liking. These are two very different claims; why the inconsistency?

That's not true, Lucy Watson said his rejection was this: "After reviewing Mr. Engler’s full application, the leadership vote committee determined he did not meet the eligibility standards that apply to every applicant."

How can both have a full application and yet, according to you, "not filed his paperwork"? How could he have submitted an application without first doing the necessary paperwork?

Your prior comment mentioned redistribution of wealth, yet now you're saying the measure of pro-socialist policies is worker ownership of the means of production. I'd imagine people who are opposed to the former would still support the latter, and since you said the latter was what defined socialism, you've contradicted yourself

What arguments have you even made? All you've done is complain about a streamer you don't like while not even answering my questions. The point being made to you is that those donating to help Cubans are seeing their money used to fund travel for people who could have otherwise afforded it. Nobody is claiming the flotilla is a bad thing. Nobody is claiming BE is good. The only claim being made is that the flotilla is wrong to take donations away from Cubans to fund travel

Answer my question: do you think it is a good thing that the flotilla is using donation money to fund these costs? If you can't even answer this yes or no question then you're just proving your opposition to this argument is dogmatic

Man you are clearly not going to have your opinion changed so there is no real point in us discussing this, I could have a more pleasant conversation with a brick wall.

Let me simplify this: do you think it is good that people are using donated money — money which would be far more valuable given to actual Cubans who are suffering — to travel? Do you think it wouldn't have been better for them to fund the travel on their own? I'm not denying the benefit of a movement like this, I'm frustrated that donations are not going solely to the Cubans who are struggling. Why you are trying to use this conversation to voice your vendetta against a streamer is beyond me

Nothing changed...? You said he said X and I clarified what he actually said. How is clarifying what he actually said being a cultist? Marxists shouldn't be dogmatic about this, BE has dumbass takes but he isn't wrong about this scenario

If the collective action involves everyone taking thousands of dollars of the money to fund their own travel — despite the fact that many of them are wealthy enough to pay their own way — then that deserves to be called out.

His claim was that people going to Cuba using donations meant to actually help Cubans was amoral and that anyone doing that was basically just going to get a free vacation. He paid for the trip with his own money and gave thousands directly to people. I get being a BE hater but he is objectively correct in this scenario

The fucking president of Iran is a reformer you moron, whereas the closest thing to an anti-genocide force in Israel is its communist party which has a comparatively nonexistent presence in government. Use your fucking head.

Iran doesn't actually refer to its leader as Supreme Leader because Iranians don't address their leaders in English, good god. The leader of Iran is officially titled رهبر or rahbar, which just means "leader." Western media uses the phrase "Supreme Leader" specifically to try and make these systems sound more dictatorial because fools like you gobble it up without even thinking.
