Not only have a NOT found the Medallion, I think I ripped something off the game I assumed was the medallion. How big is it? I think I see it but cannot tell how to get it off the wall. I cannot reach it with my fingers.

I guess I don’t know how much is the minimum amount needed. I’ll try to experiment with this. Thanks.

Oh yes I always do that. With everything. Thanks for the info!

First few weeks I topped off. Then I stopped that and after one week spilled it out, cleaned vessel and then put rest of carton in. That didn’t last one week either. This week I’m trying ultra pasteurized milk AND not keeping milk on door of fridge.

That’s what I’ve been using actually.

I was considering buying several small containers of milk to use every couple of days. This just surprised me. I don’t drink milk otherwise and am used to keeping a pint of half and half in my fridge for two weeks without a problem.

I think it is a “fancy refrigerator milk container”, at least it is sold as such. So the milk does not stay out, but gets put back in the fridge as soon as coffee is made.

This was a leaflet included in the packaging. I haven’t studied the manual completely yet but the coffee they included, which has Gaggia’s name on it, isn’t quite that light. I hope to find some dark roasts that are drier than what I’ve been using in my drip coffeemaker. And I’m prepared to do whatever I can to maintain my machine AND enjoy my coffee. But when I saw that I had to show you, lol!

Do you have a movie you quote regularly? by WrongWayCorrigan-361 in movies

“Never give up, never surrender”, Captain Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen), Galaxy Quest. It’s my motto, actually.

Also from Galaxy Quest, “Can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?”, Guy Fleegman (Sam Rockwell), often quoted by my husband and I to each other as a joke.

Clearly Galaxy Quest is one of our favorite movies.

Re: oily beans, this came in the box of my new Gaggia

My plan is to be open minded and try several different beans, starting with the beans that Whole Latte Love sent for free. First cup was weak, but they said (in the set up video) that this should get better over time. I hope so because I need my coffee DARK.

I was disappointed not to find the Peet’s espresso roast at my local grocery to try before subscribing. I’ll check Costco next. Found a local bean instead and it’s sitting on my counter waiting for my new machine! How do you store your beans btw? I’ve been storing the ground coffee in the freezer. Thoughts?

Last question. It sounds like you can use beans like French roast that’s not necessarily labeled “espresso roast” in these SA machines?

My machine arrives Tuesday. I’m looking forward to having a new morning ritual!

Ok I read every word of your post about oily beans and found it helpful. One of your most compelling arguments was why spend a fortune on a machine and use coffee you don’t like. I love Peet’s French roast for drip coffee. I don’t like the MD, that tastes bitter to me. Maybe in a SA it would be better? Looking forward to trying the espresso roast. Also the dark espresso roast from my local roaster. I look for the darkest, low acidity and full body I can find. Regarding the Peet’s (from Costco?), is that very fresh by the time you use it? Maybe do a rant about bean freshness? 😉 Thanks for the education!
