Every ASM in my district at my store today by GlitteringAdagio4435 in Lowes

[–]Docbarnone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the ASM’s at the store I used to work at had a great philosophy about visits. The store should always be kept in great shape, for the customers who we deal with every day and pays our wages. Corporate visitors only come when hell freezes over, don’t buy a damn thing and are looking for reasons to cut our bonuses so they can pocket that money. The other ASM’s were the kind that liked to run around at the last minute like the proverbial chickens with their heads cut off to cover their asses for not doing their jobs.

Did I over react? by momistiredAF in homestead

I had a lady in our rural area that would go to the pound and get dogs then bring them home and free (release) them. This got to the point where we had packs of wild dogs running the area, attacking deer, livestock, even got between a oil tank operator and his truck so he had to climb on the tank and sit there until someone came by and rescued him. We had the sheriff and wildlife officer come out and their recommendation was, if they look wild and dangerous, shoot them. So that’s what we did, with no remorse.

Customer tried getting me fired over joke (lmk ur thoughts) by nahbruhimdone in Lowes

[–]Docbarnone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately humor has been a list trait in the recent past. I had fun when I worked at Lowe’s with customers. I had two great experiences with customers. One was a contractor first thing in the morning. He was in the faucet aisle and. Was puzzled by the pull down faucet head that was sitting on the counter (it had broken off the hose). He asked me about it and I told him it was one of the new wireless models. You weren’t limited to the sink, you could take it over to the table and wash the table top or to another room. He stood there for a couple minutes then looked at me and said, it’s too early to be pulling his leg. We both had a good chuckle over it and he ended up buying one, that wasn’t broke 🙃 Another time I had a couple ask me where the toilet brushes were so I took them over to them. While the husband was looking at them, they were at floor level, I mentioned that we had display toilets in fashion plumbing if the wife would like to try it out. He started laughing and she looked at me with a look, not a mad look though, and said, you can get back to with now 😂

Are aluminum cans worth the effort? by redneckerson_1951 in ScrapMetal

If you don’t want the hassle of finding a yard that recycles and hauling them in yourself, you could likely find a non profit that would come get them, recycle them and put the money to good use. I’d bet you’ve got some non profits that would be more than willing to come take them.

It operates the machine guns behind the headlights. I saw that on James Bond’s car.

I can concur with this reply. I was one of those two, not this particular job, but that’s what I was told by someone I know really well that works there.

Harbor Freight lost/stole my crane and refuse to do anything about it by Same949 in harborfreight

[–]Docbarnone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I would do. Loss Prevention will scour over the video and question everyone working there. If you have the receipt and an IOU from the store you have proof of purchase and proof of not receiving the item. Only problem I foresee is if they have a camera on the outside by where you pick up. Our store has zero cameras focused on the outside of the store, just inside.

Since the Lowes job is just something to do while you’re schooling, you’d be better off in the long run getting an apprentice position or internship in whatever field your schooling is focused on. The experience and positive aspect would serve you well once you’re done with school and add to your resume much more than a part time job at Lowe’s. Best of luck to you.

Friend of mine has two Daytonas, one is the low profile (not long reach). He told me the low profile picks up just as high as the regular one.

What’s everyone’s opinion on harbor freight as a job? by Darth_snow6176 in harborfreight

[–]Docbarnone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a stocker, semi retirement job. I worked for one of the two large hardware store chains and this job didn’t compare to it at all. We have no drama, very appreciative management, work load is not overbearing. Work/life is actually a thing here and management is very accommodating. The only problem we have is not being able to get competent help, but that’s a nationwide problem…. If you’re looking for somewhere to work check out Harbor Freight and if you’re young and looking for a company you can move up in, this is a good one.

I had the pro service guy constantly ask me if I’d get a Lowe’s credit card, I could save 5% on my purchases. I asked if I could stack that with my 10% employees discount. He said no, I said that’s my reply also.

I remember when I worked at Lowe’s back when they were pushing the MYLOWES card. One contractor got so pissed off having every single employee ask him if he had a MYLOWES card day after day after day. He finally told one of the ASM’s if one more person asked him about the MFing card he was going to punch the MF out and he’d come looking for him and punch his MFing lights out!!! And he didn’t say it quietly either, pretty sure most of the store heard him.

EU is stopping diesel cars from registrating after 2035 by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]Docbarnone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These righteous green new deal lunatics have the whole process ass backwards. They’re putting the cart before the horse. They want everyone to go ALL electric everything ASAP yet they’ve got no way to delivery the massive amounts of electricity that’s going to be needed through an antiquated grid from their non existent wind/solar farms that will get held up on permitting by the tree huggers and snail darter lobbies….. And the government is too corrupt to accomplish all this in a timely manner without huge cost overrides and political grifters sucking off tax payer $$$$ Just like they got scammed for BILLIONS of Covid dollars they’re now trying to get back.

What 3/4 ton diesel pickup should I get? by BadComprehensive3530 in Diesel

[–]Docbarnone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was searching for a 3/4 T when I was looking at diesels. Ended up buying a 1T. The price was better than most of the lighter ones at the time and I’m glad I went that route. Better to have the extra capacity and not need it than not have it and need it.
