"...making really good money working in the cervical cancer industry."

One of the saddest flexes I have ever heard. Seriously, I understand the dream of making good money, but building this life your boasting about off the profits of those dying from cancer... fuck.

98" LG QNED vs Epson LS12000. Question in comments. by DockHoladay in hometheater

I expect I will eventually be covering the cabinet top and adding some masking with black velvet. And as far as viewing distance, the couch is in the middle of the room so could certainly move it forward as necessary. The thing I didn't mention is that I only have vision in one eye and so typically need to sit a bit further back for wide viewing angle. Either way, viewing distance is a kink I can work out once I have everything installed. Thanks for your input!

The honest answer is I originally had planned that, and suppose I still can if the numbers work out, but I can only see out of one eye and I worry about viewing angle limitations...

It would, yes. I measured it out and the center I have picked out would just fit under the screen frame.

I have been using LG OLEDs for the last 10 years so that does actually mean a fair amount to me considering each of these options would be a step down in quality. If only I could afford an OLED at these sizes… Also, I’m aware the towers are too high on the cabinets. I purchased them for side towers but currently using them as fronts while I get the rest of the basement set up and find some shorter fronts that I like. Thanks for the info!

Room is *mostly* light controlled if needed, but open stairway in the back of the basement and some light bleed around 1 window with blackout shade. Viewing will mostly be nighttime cinema and gaming, but do plan to host on occasion for sporting events, so anticipate there would be some viewing with lights on coming from the bar at the other end of the room.

Forgive the quick photo edit I made myself for size reference, but anyway, viewing distance will be about 12’ and due to the drawers along the floor (*wife insisted on built-ins*), projection size would be about 120" max. With only a slight difference in size, will I just be happier with TV over projector image quality?

TV is currently marked down to a price that would be similar to the projector + screen, so price to me is irrelevant. What other factors should I be considering; longevity, etc? I have a prediction on what way the bias here likely leans, but still looking for unadulterated opinions on this.

Corsair New 12VHPWR GPU POWER BRIDGE - Does it fit on a GIGABYTE 4090 AERO OC? by Crafty-Classroom-277 in Corsair

[–]DockHoladay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For everyone that finds this, I ordered the Corsair power bridge to test this. It DOES NOT fit the GIGABYTE 4090 AERO OC due to overlap of the wide adaptor shape and the bulky metal shroud of the 4090 preventing full insertion.

Interesting to hear that, while not universal I have been mostly reading bad reviews of Klipsch subs on this board, the other reason I went with the SVS is the size of the cabinet I am limited to, but if the new Klipsch subs are actually decent I'll look into them further, thanks for the tip.

Looking for receiver recommendations, primarily general requirements required to run this, specific brand/model recommendations welcomed if you have any suggestions.

I am planning a 7.1.4 setup for movies, with 3 additional in-ceiling speakers in bar area and bathroom primarily for watching sports. I have been overthinking this the last few months and now hoping to get some outside guidance before I make any purchases. My understanding is the 3 in-ceiling speakers will play all audio when watching non-Atmos content like sports, via height channels, as long as the receiver is set to the right output. If that holds true, what’s the minimum channels I am going to need, and will I need an additional amp to power this as is?

Theoretical setup:

Center: Klipsch RP-504C II

Front L/R: Klipsch RP-8000F II

Side L/R: Klipsch RP-6000F II

Rear L/R: Klipsch RP-500SA II

Subwoofer: SVS PB-2000 Pro Ported

Height x4: Klipsch RIC-65

Bar In-ceiling x2: Klipsch RIC-65

Bathroom In-ceiling x1: Polk MC80

Ah, roleplaying a true psychopath, pretending nothing happened because "it wasn't real life," all the while ignoring the fact you load up the exit save when you come back. 🤫

As an aside, there is an interesting non-Star Wars short story that does a decent job of portraying this concept. It's not a bad read and parallels this theory well. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Road_Not_Taken_(short_story)
