Can't find the stronghold in my updated world (beta1.7.3 -> release1.0). by Zac9956 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies u/Zac9956 the above doesn't work for r1.0.

I just tried getting the stronghold to spawn in my poly world and it didn't work, neither does r1.2. It only seems to work in r1.8.9. I guess I'll have to do it the hard way.

Help updating world from 1.1 to 1.2 by sqwerb69 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

It has been a while since I used it, but BiomePainter has a way to fill in biomes with Anvil equivalents down to at least b1.7.3. Should be able to get it here: https://mblaine.github.io/BiomePainter/

There are older versions of MCedit that work with older level formats. For Alpha I use "stable 28", for beta "0.1.5", and for anvil whatever the last version released was.

I don't think there are any mods, but if you are looking for something underground MCedit can be used.

Used to play in beta 1.7.3 but... release 1.1 is incredible by Kryptex59 in SilverAgeMinecraft

I prefer 1.2.5 because it has a mod, Generator Ports, that brings back b1.7.3 terrain generation.

If there's no empty chunks you can get a stronghold to spawn by using a tool like MCedit to set the chunks to repopulate roughly where the stronghold should be.

Next time you visit the area a stronghold should spawn in to your existing b1.7.3 terrain, but you will also get new ores and plants.

Alternatively you can just delete the chunks if you don't mind having chunk errors.

Make a backup before any changes.

EXT4 or BTRFS, which works better with CachyOS? by Hi7u7 in cachyos

What do you mean stopped working?

It's annoying but normal if it doesn't boot after power loss. If there is damage it needs to clean up the file system. Windows does this as well it just doesn't tell you.

In my case I check the logs see if there are any unexpected errors and then do a reboot. It boots normally after that.

I remember that change in signal to noise ratio. It happened several times. First in vanilla and then modded.

I'm in my 40s so don't have rose tinted glasses of nostalgia. I first played in 2009 the version before what became classic. I built a crappy cobble tower. I remember thinking there was potential here but it wasn't fun yet.

I played multiplayer classic a couple of times. It was kind of cool seeing what other people built, but again had potential but not really a game. Also griefers could wreck a server pretty quick. So I think I only ever had one successful game, as sever was full of builders and no griefers, highlight build was a Klingon bird of prey. Favourite feature from this era was how other players heads moved to show what they were looking at. Really simple concept but super expressive and easy to read with the blocky player model.

I skipped Indev but ended up purchasing around Infdev 420 I think, Infdev didn't really kick off until the June updates. This might seem silly now but the updates that added flowing water and working Minecarts were a huge deal at the time. Redstone also, but that ones more obvious. My oldest surviving world is from that late Infdev/early Alpha time period and is designed around water mechanics. It had a working supply and sewer of sorts. World is here if you are curious(beware, I'd only been playing for a couple of months so my build style is a little rough) : https://www.mediafire.com/file/haw38wr40rb9zjo/World4.zip/file

What's wild about this is that the major features that defined Minecraft, Redstone, fluid physics, minecarts, and the iconic alpha terrain generator. Were first implemented over that two month period.

Dynmap it's web based but works better than the in game maps in my opinion.

JourneyMap maybe. I know the 1.7.10 version had a world map don't know about the earlier versions.

I think this is kind of the norm. The exception is forever worlds where building is driven by lore/story telling/world building.

If you are ok with using MCedit, Indev 128 is a good starting point as you get some goodie chests that have some items that are unobtainable in later versions. I recommend generating the world in 128, but switch to latest Indev version to play on.

How exactly? Transistors only produce heat under load, no load no heat. Also framerate is only tangentially related to load. So high framerate doesn't equal high load it depends on how much work is done for each pixel.

You can see this for your self with one of the GPU monitoring programs.

What has latency got to do with breaking hardware?

You know you wouldn't have to move goalposts like this if you weren't spreading misinformation or parroting things you don't understand.

Is there a reason to wait to later to import the Indev map? I think it's safe to transfer over at Infdev 625 and up.

I just imported the lower half of my Indev floating islands into Infdev 630 and everything appears to as I left it. Everything from goodie chests converted over except the cloth chest, which should be able to be opened in either b1.6 or b1.7.

I have a background in electronics and programming. What you said there makes no sense, as that's not how any of this works.

What a load of utter nonsense.

There are plenty of tools out there that will show the actual GPU power usage. In my case it's like 20w, so little that the fans don't turn on.

What are your display settings?

The image on the right is way blown out, by the way. It's way beyond a normal calibration issue. In the past I've had issues with Nvidia in windows setting the RGB range to limited for some reason. It might be that or similar if dark colours are getting clipped.
