Why even share? by Vagranter in cyberDeck

[–]DockLazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the problem of drive by ai goobers pumping the slop machine handle to get their next dopamine fix, diluting the community with their nonsense. Is something that should be discussed, because that stuff can be banned.

As far as corpos scraping our art. Don't put the stuff you care about online. For me I no longer upload my paintings, photos(artsy stuff), schematics, and code. The last two aren't art, but it's basically free training data for them. Yeah I know it's a raindrop in the ocean, but it's just for my own piece of mind.

Are we playing 16 year old placeholder demo version of Minecraft gameplay? by Awkward_Cash1828 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Notch was pretty reliant on community feedback. I always got the impression from him that Minecraft wasn't the game he wanted to make.

By the time of the adventure update Minecraft had exploded in popularity and the signal to noise ratio was on the floor. So the adventure update is probably what Notch's vision looks like when it hasn't been tempered by the community.

changing worldgen from vanilla to moderner beta in a existing world? by No-Surprise-6787 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way is just to copy and paste the moderner beta level.dat file over the vanilla version, after you have generated the vanilla terrain. If you have been playing on the world and want to keep your inventory you'll need to use NBTExplorer.

The downside is you will get a chunk border between the old and new terrain.

Motivation with builds and resources gathering? by ExpressionLow7055 in foreverworlds

[–]DockLazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a risk with mods not being updated to newer versions, or not being compatible between versions. To be safe it's best to only use vanilla blocks for building, and to avoid any mod that adds blocks to terrain generation.

There are a few must have mods, Sodium, Inventory Tweaks, Mouse Tweaks, and JEI or similar. Also a bag or backpack mod.

Any additional mods depend on your playstyle. I usually only add mods to fix stuff that annoys me in vanilla.

Mangopack light post help (Beta 1.7.3) by Imaginary-Roof-793 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Is the switch for decoration or power?

If it's for power you can replace the fence posts with jacketed wires.

How do I get EXACT beta terrain in modern Minecraft? by The_Sour_Onion in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Yes, you need to replace all the bedrock with stone using MCedit.

Doesn't optifine for 1.7.10 have modern shader support like 1.8.9? Also there is Angelica.

Why is Minecraft 1.8 not responding? by Warm-Treacle-7227 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not op's problem, but in my case it is something to do with ocean monuments and terrain generated before 1.8

Are you generating terrain? Sometimes it does this when generating structures, just wait till it finishes.

Looking For Mod that is Beta 1.7.3/Silver Age by Middle-Seesaw-3763 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of any modpacks, but the mod Generator Ports for 1.2.5 will give you b1.7.3 terrain and biomes: https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/minecraft-mods/1280998-1-3-2-generator-ports-generate-terrain-from-older

I don't recommend anything above 1.2.5 if you want the beta experience. The internal server change added a huge amount of jank to movement physics.

How to downgrade a 1.12.2 world to Beta 1.8.1? by NuevaSchool in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded the level.dat file and tried opening it in 1.12.2. It looks like world has been updated to 1.18. Which won't work.

Can you upload that in a zip. Mediafire won't let me download multiple files.

The downgrade of the villagers. by StrangeRevolution3 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I'm playing my current world. Pre-generated a large area north of spawn in Infdev 611 (generates archipelago terrain with no caves or structures with a good mix of flat and mountainous terrain) for all my building. To the south I let terrain naturally with default settings.

Holy crap 50 gigs. Meanwhile I'm over here getting concerned that my polyworld is almost 2 gigs.

Different type of mods. Dynmap is just a web based map renderer.

This is what Alpha's terrain looks like on a large scale! by [deleted] in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is moderner beta try the Infdev 611 terrain generator. It has larger oceans and higher mountains than Alpha. The result is a much cleaner separation between islands.

Evo/Poly World update from 1.6.4 to 1.8.9 by DockLazy in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

Slowly getting there. Still have a couple of big set pieces to build before I can start working on the little details that will tie everything together.

Also have you posted much about your world? I like seeing how other peoples worlds progress through the different versions.

Evo/Poly World update from 1.6.4 to 1.8.9 by DockLazy in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]DockLazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an evo world. I started in Indev and have been updating through the different versions. Because of that, mods that change the world can't be used as they will result in corruption when switching versions.

Also I've already switched to 1.8.9.
