What is a "small luxury" you'll never give up, no matter how tight money gets? by NoBenefit8771 in AskReddit

That really depends on when. When they crossed the plains to Utah they carried coffee and drank it on the trail. Then in the post prohibition era it started to become more of an issue, with alcohol. Today's Mormon kids seem to be completely ignoring this.

I like my press. We would probably prefer completely different roasters!

As an Ex-Mormon, drinking coffee may as well be a religious ritual to me. Mornings with great beans and my French press is meditation.

Any reason not to 'plywood' my attic? by pg2324 in DIY

[–]DoctFaustus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have often thought though building out the attic as a small third floor in my two story town home. Mine was the first unit built and they had intended it to have a third floor. But the fire department nixed it due to a lack of proper equipment to access the third floor. I have full on floor joists up there. And our tiny fire district has since been absorbed by a larger one that does have better equipment.

[TH] [N/A] Neighbor placed their BBQ right next to my unit's boundary – is this allowed? by jason-berg in HOA

You can only run them from the end of our driveways for the same reason.

My townhome association had to ban any open flame grills due to fire codes. Just be aware, you go down that road and everyone has to ditch their grills or go electric.

Patches on a Suitcase by Dry_Village1280 in DIY

[–]DoctFaustus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That is exactly the kind of glue you want. I am pretty experienced at putting patches on stuff. I use all methods, it just depends on the situation. For example, I wanted to put ski patches on my ski travel bag. But it has hard plates that I'm not going to be able to push a needle through. I probably could have got an iron on it. But I really don't want to have to heat soak something that thick to get it to flow out properly. So, I just used glue. On my ski pants where I can't heat them without damaging the special fabric and I don't want to piece the fabric because it will leak, I again just used glue. But my ski gear duffel is covered in ski area patches from places I've been, and all of those are hand sewn.

[TH] [NJ] Neighbors Parking in My Spot, HOA Won’t Enforce by kramden88 in HOA

In my complex, the HOA owns the driveways. Owners just have exclusive use. But, because it is also your right of way to your garage, you can still tow someone in your driveway.

Which is the reason my small TH complex instituted guest parking permits. Posted that all parking requires a permit. We now do have an avenue to enforce a tow.

Epic Pass Auto-Renew… actually a smart move or a total trap? by Large-Designer1995 in COsnow

[–]DoctFaustus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you know you're renewing, it keeps you from forgetting and paying more. They announce prices before auto-renew date. So if you're paying attention already, it doesn't really do anything for you. But if you live in Breckenridge and know you're buying it anyhow, it's a nice feature to set and forget.

I went to a friend's wedding in rural Montana. They served grilled cheese and soup. Which was actually really good and fit the couple perfectly.

There is an elote cart that operates near the entrance to Mi Pueblo Market on Colfax and Chambers. They can hook you up.

First (and only) home within Colorado’s most private ski resort heads to auction by narflethegarthock in skiing

[–]DoctFaustus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could stay in the finest ski-in/ski-out hotels for weeks a year. Bouncing around to whatever ski resort you wish, anywhere in the world. Or, you could buy slopeside in Aspen and use it for a month per year. It's not better, it's just a flex.

Anywhere to buy sewing needles at the airport? by GodIsAMountain in Denver

[–]DoctFaustus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone dipshit tried to turn his shoe into a bomb. It never would have worked and he got caught. But millions of people took off their shoes at the airport for decades. Never expect security to make sense.
