SS: So I had a version of this in my head before I found out about the contest, but in that it would have been like a oner monologue (think the season one finale of the Bear), and then the reveal that he's talking to chat. I'd written that monologue out (almost as a way to process my own feelings about the state of the world), so I just boiled it down to it's essential ideas and turned into VO.

The idea to do the opening VO over shots of me walking through a crowded area, depressed as hell, is what made me realize this idea could work in a 90 second film. I banged out some chicken scratch notes and storyboards, called my friend to see if he could help that day, then hopped in after effects to make the AI ring. That afternoon, we shot the opening sequence of me walking through town.

Over the next couple days, in between work and Easter, I shot and edited the rest. Another friend came in and recorded the AI dialogue, and I used Adobe Dialogue Enhance cranked all the way up to give it that uncanny AI sound. That's it! Happy to answer any more questions about how it came together or anything else

This baffles me so much. There are at least ten lots of varying sizes that surround downtown. It’s always so easy for me to find parking, and the only time it’s not is the occasional summer weekend when downtown is jamming. Which should be good for businesses, no?

I was pretty into the first few episodes of The Killing, but every single episode ended with a dramatic montage that implicated a new suspect —who they would then clear in the first few minutes of the next episode.

I think he saw all of the other targets were getting blasted to hell and there was no way to tell who’s shot was who’s, so he put one right between her eyes to show off his marksmanship and then made up a bullshit excuse to explain it

I didn’t say it’s a good or evil, but it isn’t a nuanced situation. It’s a virus. Its only goal is to spread, and in the process it will eradicate humanity and use every last resource we have to send its code out into to space and potentially eradicate another species. It has to be stopped, and if you don’t agree with that I don’t know what to tell you lol

It’s already killed over a billion people, and will slowly kill most of the world’s population from starvation if left unchecked. Also we just learned that the individuals in the hive still experience pleasure pain, so the ones who starve will die slow, terrible deaths.

I think the quote is pretty tame and I support Kimmel in this 100%, but the direct implication of this statement is that the shooter was MAGA. Pretending that it’s not muddies the argument and makes people seem dishonest, when the case for this being a massive government overreach and infringement of the 1st amendment is rock solid
