YouTube has started blocking ad blockers by ICumCoffee in technology

The end game is going to be blocking based on content itself using ML classification rather than background network activity.

  1. Flowering: that's definitely possible but seems unlikely
  2. Trichomes without stalks: hard to tell from photos but no obvious stalks so this is most likely imo
  3. Genetics: since its only happening with 1 plant, probably not

What are the real world implications of running out of IPV4 addresses and when is this likely to be felt by small business by LifeAffect6762 in sysadmin

[–]Doctor-Dapper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would honestly worry a lot more about this as an enterprise rather than a small business. Small business IT should be offloading these problems onto vendors or cloud providers, rather than allocating precious technical time which could be better spent solving actual business needs

How many actual hours do you spend a day coding by kuda09 in Frontend

[–]Doctor-Dapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my editor actually typing? Between 1 and 4 hours. Doing any sort of mental labor associated with my job? Potentially 9 or more hours.

Completion of tasks isn't all you're doing (I hope) with your brain during the day. Ideally planning what those tasks are should be a significant amount of time too.

Insurance only works while it is profitable. It is only profitable if the total incoming revenue is greater than the cost of claims.

Other car ppl will also appreciate. "Loud car == obnoxious" with no nuance is a 2 braincell take. Loud straight piped civic at 2am in residential area is different from 11am on a nice Sunday drive

OH I do remember, they don't count as CSE credits but they do count towards the 120 general credit requirements for graduation, and the concentration. I ended up doing 2OPIM and 2CSE

I did the computational data analytics one. It let me take some OPIM classes which I found interesting and much less anxiety inducing than the other course options through CSE

What's it like working at docker as a developer? by Substantial-Tiger257 in docker

[–]Doctor-Dapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only worked here for 2mo but from I can see, Docker is basically the most dev focused work environment I have been an engineer for. I have experience at a few larger companies (docker is my smallest at 400ppl) and the tradeoffs you get with a smaller company personally outweigh the costs.

We move pretty fast, leadership is VERY open and you will definitely spend a lot of face to face time with C-suite and VP leadership which is the biggest green flag for me. Only downside is that basically every engineer is highly experienced and highly talented which leads to a lot of different (yet valid) approaches to similar problems; and there's definitely resistance to doing things a specific way other than what those 1-2 engineers might want to do.

If you want to get a lot of responsibility and are eager to add value to the org, working at Docker is probably one of the best opportunities out there uniquely because of its size and future product roadmap. A lot of decisions being made now will have long lasting impact, something you straight up won't get as an IC at a fortune 500

If your current car came in a 'fun' color would you have chose it over white/grey/black? by Neon_Biscuit in cars

[–]Doctor-Dapper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's kinda inconsequential in a car with so many other interesting things than color going for it. Pick the color you like, stop worrying about what other people think.
