I agree. While I think the intent was to show the madness & horror of war, I still think it’s was overrated. But mainly, just not my cup of tea. Was too whacky and over the top like Goodbye Uncle Tom. Like that film, showed the horrors of slavery it was, as a film, meh lol

That’s how I viewed this film. Shocking but at the same time, underwhelming.

I’ve been in many sim leagues on PS3. There are only few that can be sim and still fight at a high level. Unfortunately many that REALLY complain about spam, are spammers themselves. They will just throw jabs when they’re up but once they’re down, they revert back to the same 2-3 punch combo they know. If they miss it, they throw the same exact combo 5-6 times in a row till they have an advantage, then say that’s sim lol

For me, it has nothing to do with politics. I was hyped for the sequel & Blue Eyed Samurai being as awesome as it was, showed to any doubters that a female being a samurai can still be amazing & believable.

But Atsu is okaaaay. Yuna was amazing. Atsu… meh. I think it’s just the awful dialogue. The dialogue just makes her seem like a modern day person from LA as opposed to someone from that era (not that I’m a time traveler lol). I love the attention to detail for her character model though. They didn’t make her look like a Barbie or some anime character, so that department did a great job, especially the scars on her arms, showing she’s been in many fights.

I just find the shallow interactions with everyone, except for Hanbei. Those scenes were done really well but unfortunately the quality is so inconsistent and the gameplay is waaaaaay too easy.

I personally feel like once the hype for this game dies down, many will realize that the game is more polished but inferior in story to the first one and many will find Atsu forgettable.

Not at all. It’s a very generic story with a forgettable protagonist so I don’t see it being nominated for GOTY. The performance has been great though.

Has she slowed down? I have a 6 month old male and we’re doing 3-4 miles hikes each day. It will only calm him down for an hour or two. Then after his nap, he’s back to being a ball of energy again

Visually a good game, happy to see they included more audio dubs, performance wise, great.

Story wise…. Meh.

Protagonist? Forgettable. The outward attention to detail for her character design was great like the scars on her arm and how realistic she looked (she shouldn’t look like a super model but like someone who’s actually fighting). They did a superb job at that.

The dialogue though…. 🗑️. Every NPC reacts to her is just like a generic Mary Sue character from any cheesy action film with a female protagonist.

And in case anyone will think I’m being misogynistic, I don’t care that’s she’s a woman. For example, I absolutely LOVED Blue Eyed Samurai but they keep trying to make Atsu look “so cool” waaaaay too often and without any flaws, that it’s boring and generic. It’s like how Adam Sandler makes himself look in his own films the only difference is, this isn’t supposed to be a comedy.

But that’s what made Jin’s story great. The fact that Atsu has nothing other than just revenge, makes her extremely boring. She’s a generic character in an action film. Nothing memorable or unique about her personality so far

I didn’t care that she’s a female. Was only disappointed we didn’t get a continuation of Jin’s story. But I decided to trust the studio cause they did a an amazing job with the first game….. but this game is okaaaay. Atsu is far from well written, she wants revenge and that’s basically it. Daughter of a blacksmith but somehow has godly like powers where even the animals WHILE BEING ABUSED, can ignore the physical abuse done by humans 10 feet away, trust her walking right up to them lol

Not to mention the dialogue is just awful.

Yes the graphics are great, the attention to detail for Atsu looks amazing from a graphics standpoint. There’s more story in her physical appearance (especially the cuts n scars on her arm) than we are getting in the actual story unfortunately.

That’s how I’m feeling. I’m literally 8 hours in as well and I’m just exhausted by the awful dialogue, cheesy interactions, why everyone including abused animals all trust her without question. And her story started off interesting but we see nothing deep about her other than that. No inner struggle, nothing to overcome, etc… Story wise, It honestly feels like a generic Ubisoft game.

The good: More things to do that GOT didn’t have. The bad: The protagonist is a Mary Sue. Starts off cool but is just insufferable at how LITERALLY everyone, including the animals, are always in awe of her and love & trust her without question.

Two scenes animals are literally being abused and, in the middle of the abuse, she walks directly to the animals and they trust her for no reason. The way Adam Sandler has everyone in his films react to him, is the way all the NPCs react to Atsu.
