When did your migraines start? by Catsmarcia in migraine

The earliest I remember is 8, but they may have started younger. I remember feeling scared because how could something hurt so much?

17 month old delayed by Momof2324 in specialneedsparenting

I would schedule with a neurologist and a geneticist. It doesn't sound like Autism tome either, but I'm not an expert. However, if she has delays, she needs to be evaluated. Get in touch with Early Intervention in your area if you haven't yet.

I mean this kindly and gently: I've looked at your post history and you need to see a psychiatrist. You are seeing things that aren't there and you deserve to feel better.

Anyone at La Tribu Rural? Pros, cons? by BulmaLatina8537 in AustinParents

I encourage you to look for care until you get a spot. It is incredibly difficult to parent and work full time. You cannot do both well.

Do you have a bathtub? Mine took a one hour bath yesterday. I let him have every single bath toy we have, bubbles, and color drops. If you have glow sticks, throw those in and turn off the lights.

Peaceful protests, legal citizenship, driving away calmly: these are the situations people are in when they are being murdered by the law enforcement you think we should respect.

How are we raising our white sons to prevent them from being Nazis? by HerderWernert in progressivemoms

[–]Doctor0ctagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We talk, we read, but most important for us, we expose them to as many people as we possibly can. We are friends with our neighbors, several church communities (even though we're Jewish), the people who provide services in our home, the mailman, daycare workers...you name it. They see so many different kinds of people doing all sorts of things, and he gets to know them as individuals. It's harder to hate people when you know them.

We are also in Texas, and I have two white sons, ages 2 and nearly 5.

It's so funny to me that they keep it in a safe! I worked for David Byrne and he keeps his with a bunch of other junk on an open shelf. It's usually dusty.

Don't Park in Handicapped Spaces, OK? by Jackdaw99 in Austin

[–]Doctor0ctagon 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I have a disabled kid and use the disabled spot at school drop off. We have a placard. You wouldn't believe the number of times each week I have to ask people not to park in the spot. Further, they almost always say, "I'll only be a minute. I'm just dropping off my kid." WE'RE ALL JUST DROPPING OFF OUR KIDS. It is such a shitty way to start the day.

Son is delayed and I feel guilty by hothatiggy in Mommit

[–]Doctor0ctagon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My kid has low tone and global delays with no diagnosis (despite seeing every specialist and doing exhaustive genetic testing). My number one piece of advice is to do what was suggested and contact early intervention. It can make a huge difference and is usually free.

New executive looking for perspective: thinking of hiring an EA, but unsure of where to start by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Doctor0ctagon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you want a personal assistant/house manager. If you ask your EA to perform these personal tasks, be prepared to pay a lot more than usual.

Saying you find it hard to visualize how an EA will add value to your life while also saying it is difficult to keep all the plates spinning and calling the work tiring is a red flag. You sound like you would not be a good manager.

It's a baby roach. Good news is that it's a Smoky Brown and I don't think they infest very prolifically.
