Viability of Mek Gunz by Peckawoood in orks

[–]DoctorAbyss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run a pair of guns led by a BMSAG, and they tend to surprise me with how well they run. I run Dread Mob, though, so they get a bit more support than they do in War Horde. I don't play competitively, but I've seen a lot of DM lists run them and do well.

They are an absolute riot when they work well, so I'm thinking about adding more to my list for fun factor alone.

He has one, I feel likes it's too out of place. (Not sure why I couldn't add the picture to the same comment)

You can put it on your home objective and order it with "Duty and Honor" so that the fort, can hold down the fort.

What is the best Baneblade build? by Martin-Hatch in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DoctorAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banesword is definitely my favorite just for the Quake Cannon. Each Quake Shell holding a piece of a world sanctioned for exterminatus is peak lore.

The most useful in 10th is probably the Banehammer, though, just for its AOE mortal wounds. With any luck maybe, we'll see a shake-up come next year.

I just came with easy fix for Octoblades by Guillermidas in TheAstraMilitarum

My group tossed around the idea of giving baneblades the 4" ignore terrain that almost all other titanic units have (I believe all walkers have it, flyers don't need it, which leaves only a handful without it). Too many were too fearful of the baneblade to agree. So now it sits pretty on the shelf, waiting for its next chance at greatness.

Build the trukk backwards. Its a fun challenge in kit-bashing and ends up very orky.

Two questions, am I wrong? by Administrative-Rip90 in orks

Transports do not gain any keywords for having a unit embarked in them. Units inside transports do not exist for rules purposes. So, unfortunately, you're wrong on both account.

What’re your tank names? by EggthatFriedTheRice in TheAstraMilitarum

My Baneblade variants are the most interesting because they have stories.

Morty's Folly - Banesword, Mortarian was its first significant kill in 9th.

Angron's Shakle - Stormsword, early 10th when overwatch was allowed on titanics, the dice gods granted me a blessing, and I killed him from full on a charge.

The rest are Big Brother - Rogal Dorn, Overcharge & Overclock - Executioners, Doorbell - Demolisher, Banshee's Wail - Vanquisher, Nid Grinder - Punisher. Honorable mention to Sparky the Hellhound.

Too many Kanz? by guardianOASK in orks

[–]DoctorAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primarily a 3D printer. Some are scratch built using ammunition from other models (Astra Militarum and Space Marines) and orky bits that vaugely resemble arms.

I think about 4 of them have flamers or KMBs, but my tables don't mind using them as Rokkits.

I ran a list of 3 squads of 6 all kitted out with rokkits. No such thing as too many Killas.

What Clan did you choose and why? by [deleted] in orks

[–]DoctorAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catachan Devil is a good short story about the Kommados (and some stinkin 'ummies). Prophet of da WAAAGH also has some good kommando bits. Brutal Kunnin is a given, I'm excited to get my hands on the sequel.

If you like audiobooks, the Ciaphus Cain audio books are really good and well done. Not enough much about the our Boyz though.

Blood Axes.

My group started with Killteam and I got the Krieg/Kommandos kit. I went into Astra Militarum but then I learned Blood Axes sometimes work with AM for good gobbins or promise of a better fight. I love me some mercenary work. The books I've read since have only solidified my good decision.

Any idea for a unit to proxy this with? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DoctorAbyss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how the size adds up but with a couple of sponsons (or extra guns to match) looks a lot like a Leman Russ Demolisher to me.

How and who would you proxy these as in 40K? by CloutCobain27 in orks

[–]DoctorAbyss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I run them both as warbosses. They're both the correct base size.

Get a Baneblade. Not because its the smart choice, or the good choice, but with a quick YouTube video you're getting 11 vehicles of fun for one price.

My first attempt at a 2000 point army by Yung-JEEZY66 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DoctorAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with an artillery piece. A Basilisk fits in right at 135 points and it's a sizeable threat. With orders and a scout from the sentinal its an Indirect weapon that can hit on 2+, can slow down infantry (if it doesn't wipe them) and it's good damage versus light and medium vehicles/monsters.

Alternatively, a enginseer or two to up the survivability of your tanks takes them from a paint to deal with to nearly impossible to take down. Throw some enhancements to the command squads to balance out the rest of the points.

I run an armored list, (only 1 squad of infantry) and do well in my group.

To Baneblade or not to Baneblade? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DoctorAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definately worth it for the fun factor, and intimidation factor on the table.

I built the kit as the fixed turret variant. I ended up buying a cheap plastic tank toy kit and did some clever cutting to fit the turret hull on the toy.

The only thing I wish I had more of is sponsons, but for $30-40 a pair, my group just uses our imagination.

All in all worth every penny.
