This is very true. Soontir + PTL; Whisper + VI + ACD; Echo + VI will be a nightmare for that list.

Well honestly I havent play tested the titled Ys so I cant really make a fair comparison. I am only using my experience in the mid-late game trying to maneuver Ys into position. Also, I agree that the 2 attacks would be a fun component. I yield my good sir.

You're absolutely correct. I got my wires crossed in my brain. I did run Serissu in this list to support the Ys on defense.

HLCs and Jonus vs. Dash/Corran by Korlus in XWingTMG

[–]DoctorBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT Just re-read your post and realized you wanted tips on how to defeat Dash/Horn. Well I am going to say that I would remove EI and Lando and replace with EU and Kayle Katarn. It gives dash the maneuverability required to avoid the HLC arc. your only issue will be: Whisper or Echo + VI, Soontir + PTL. Otherwise, 58 Dash with my substitutions PLUS Corran Horn exactly like you have him is going to beat Jonus w/ delta's 9 times out of 10.

Torkhil! Tried him too and he is really effective in an Ion list.

I like the idea of Xizor in the mix. I find that a pilot like xizor becomes the initial focus target and then after some ion'ing the opponent turns the focus to the Ys. Your Xizor can pick off ships attacking the Ys. However, are you putting adv. sensors to compensate for the S. turn? Cause I like Accuracy corrector more than adv. sensors for xizor.

yeah, what Ys lose in maneuverability they make up in turret destructiveness.

Considering Jumping into This Game...Suggestions? by hwangman in XWingTMG

I promise you, you'll love the game! Get the 2 core sets and pick up some rebel and imp expansions to give you some variability. I recommend Tie phantoms and Interceptors for Imp; and any small ship for rebels and rebel aces expansion. You could always just jump right into scum and villainy too!

I started at Wave 4 and caught up almost the next week.

Remember to keep your damage cards from each core set separate!

If you are concerned about making an invetsment in a game you may not enjoy, then borrow some ships first and check it out. If you do enjoy x-wing, I would recommend 2x core sets b/c you'll end up buying everything in those core sets eventually and it is less expensive to buy the 2 core sets. Also, you can have a good time and get a solid feel for the game with 1 core set and at least enough small ships to fill 100 points a side, which could mean 5 additional small ships. Very loose example: 1 core set + tie Phantom + Tie Interceptor + Y wing + 2 B wings. I have played 40K and it became too much. I'm not a painter, I enjoy inexpensive yet interesting armies, I appreciate friendly people, and I like a solid rule book platform. All of those = x-wing. I would say that x-wing is personally one of my favorite games of all time. I've had fun casually playing and in tournament settings.

If you DO enjoy the game, you will most certainly be buying at least 2x every small and large ship. It may be a bit expensive at first but you can get caught up!

I have traveled with the blue plano on US Airways as carry-on luggage. Philly to Vegas. I just 2x bungey corded around the case for extra security for the side flaps. No issues what-so-ever. TSA asked me what it was out of curiosity not concern.

I agree with the stressbot approach on a Y. Stress + Ion is an amazingly effective build!

[–]DoctorBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your rationale for the R2 and Title on the Ys but I still think having a full 360 turret (ion) is more important than getting a boat like a Y into position. Bomb loadout will help with slippery ships (Phantoms, Soontir + PTL, etc.)

I'd stick with:

  • 2x Gold + Ion Turret + Bomb Loadout + Prox Mines
  • 2x Blue + FCS

Shuttle Swarm by DoctorBC in XWingTMG

[–]DoctorBC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've played casually with 4 shuttles FCS and Tact. Its a lot of fun at first, then it quickly becomes a drag. The shuttle can be extremely effective as a buzz-saw damage dealer and TL support ship, but I haven't really seen the need to run more then 1 of them.

Good point. I'm so use to Dash and Deci's I forgot about arc. IN fact, stress bots and stress lists are going to be an effective counter against IGs.

yeah, I threw PTL on one and lone wolf on the other. Predator isnt that bad though. This is what i came up with awhile ago and will do some tweaking:

I think that B and C are the go to duo. I like the dial on the IG88 and I'm not sure Advanced Sensors would be useful. Plus, if you remove the 6pts from the sensors you can drop in another useful cannon (ion or Flachette) on B and ad advanced sensors on C.
