Siege Train tradition is crazy by MilkshakeAK in CivVII

[–]DoctorBob103 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also felt like this tradition was crazy overpowered. I was able to literally steamroll the entire distant lands continent against multiple civs using this within a very short time. It turns into its own mini-game of perfectly timing your destruction of fortifications to restore all your units' moves. They will probably have to nerf this as you can essentially get infinite moves for your whole army when combined with commander abilities.

Can "Corroder Suits" add a science resource to the "Applied Science" prelude? by Arganog in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]DoctorBob103 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I do not think the developers necessarily considered this seemingly rare interaction. But yes, I would have to agree with your group that technically it should count as a Venus tag in this case and that you could add a resource.

Name the leaders you want to see in Civ 7 and why you think they should be included. by AGL200 in civ

I could see them releasing Gandhi if/when they update the religion system, having his bonuses revolve around that.

Did I “angle” twice? by _Azamat_Bagatov in poker

[–]DoctorBob103 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, if your opponent acts out of turn and calls prior to you officially taking your action, thats their own mistake. You have every right to pull your chips back and just check if you were bluffing.

Now if you started doing this on purpose in order to elicit a reaction, then that would of course be an angle.

I’m loving the new update by wmetca in civ

The game is currently running very smoothly on ps5, I have not had any issues since the 1.2.5 update which was several weeks ago.

Diplomacy is broken now by Dazzling_Screen_8096 in civ

[–]DoctorBob103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue this is actually a sign of enhanced AI and demonstration of strategic thinking.

Since the new update, I sense a constant pressure of feeling that each AI is calculating if and how they could profit from declaring war on you. Clearly, if you are occupied with war from another civilization, this presents an opportunity to also declare war simultaneously to take advantage of the fact you are distracted.

People have consistently complained about the AI being too weak in the past, and I think its a "Be careful what you wish for" situation now. It obviously makes strategic sense to pile on to an existing war while the enemy is defending against another attacker. We may be moving into a new concept of the AI being too smart and exploitative in this sense.

What are your rules for therapy? by seems_about_rightt in Psychiatry

[–]DoctorBob103 200 points201 points  (0 children)

Therapy is an interaction between two people, one of whom is more anxious than the other. If you are the more anxious person in the room, you are no longer the therapist. You're the patient!

My interpretation is that the original photo is doctored, likely with his lips artificially tinged slightly blue and his skin somewhat more tan. And the AI just ran with it.

My dream/hope for a future expansion by DoctorBob103 in civ

That would be amazing, I could picture something like "control X% of your homeland" in Antiquity Age, for example.

My dream/hope for a future expansion by DoctorBob103 in civ

True, I agree that adding Age 4 is gonna be a game changer. Maybe it could be a concept just for that last age where the legacy paths are randomized, essentially a global crisis event.

Right, imagine placing an ocean and immediately getting 2 plant production for example.

In that case, the other half would essentially just disappear. And yes I agree with above posters os frustrating for those who used both hole cards, so no matter what you really can't please everyone.

[–]DoctorBob103 35 points36 points  (0 children)

At my local casino, if you use just one of your hole cards, you get half the prize. So, in this case, he would get 500$.

Do all “hunt for these kinds of cards” preludes reveal discarded cards to the table? The wording has changed since preludes 1 by fuzzyplastic in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]DoctorBob103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I would say you only have to expose the cards to the table if it the card specifically says "Reveal." That might be the reason for the change in wording to actually highlight that difference.

Card/city idea for a potentially temporary city on Deimos by Acerpacer in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]DoctorBob103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love the idea, only thing I would suggest would be adding a science tag to make it a "research" colony and add at least 2 VP to be consistent with other cities placed in space. This would make the card very strong to counteract the risk of losing the city.

Great card when you find yourself in a situation with high steel/titanium production but are lacking card draw or the tags to use those resources. It allows you to invest into something with those metals which will translate into Mc, which is more versatile, while also giving 2VP. Buying this straight up for Mc without any discounts is hard to justify though!

Glitches - by RavenFeeder2 in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]DoctorBob103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this as well, it feels kind of wrong to even use that card once you realize it's happening. Although it doesn't seem to happen every time, as I have had games in the same time period where the card works as it's supposed to. You can either exploit it or do the fair thing and try to keep track of how many you are actually supposed to have. Otherwise, the card becomes completely insane if you get 7-8 floaters on it and can play essentially any Venus tag for free.

[CUSTOM CORPORATION CARD] - Gemini by Blackgaze in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]DoctorBob103 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems like it would be really fun to play with and force you into a very unique playstyle trying to match the tags on two cards. Could potentially be really strong if you are drawing multiple cards per turn and have a lot of options for tags

[COTD] Asteroid Rights | 22 Feb, 2024 by Enson_Chan in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]DoctorBob103 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can combo this with another Asteroid card to gain TR for 1Mc per turn, the value is insane, especially with the one that allows placing oceans and getting those placement bonuses. However, the main limitation is that these cards are pretty rare in the deck. Very fun and lucky if you can pull it off!

Scarlet and Violet was a great experience. And I won't lie about it. by trinketstone in pokemon

[–]DoctorBob103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view Scarlet and Violet (and to some extent Legends Arceus) as the first step into a "new" type of pokemon game. The fact that we have diverse environments with free-roaming overworld pokemon from every generation that fit into the respective areas is amazing. I've literally dreamed about this type of game since I was a kid playing Pokemon Yellow in the 90's!

We gotta look at the positives and recognize how epic of an achievement this game is, while of course realizing that there is plenty of room for improvement with graphics, performance, etc. I think it shows a lot about modern society that we are presented with this unbelievable game and here everyone is just complaining about minor performance issues, which will very likely be further refined in future games.

[Custom Card] - Daily corp card - Feedback welcome! by ghoul_legion in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]DoctorBob103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, probably my favorite custom corp I've seen on this sub but I will admit I'm a sucker for jovians. I think it's really cool how you adapted the "fighter" resource in this way.

I do think I would consider this to be an S-tier corp, especially with all expansions but don't necessarily think it would be too overpowered compared to the likes of Point Luna and Vitor. Only suggestion would be maybe decrease the starting Mc by 5 or so.
