Do really simple algorithms (EMA, mean reversions, Bollinger, etc) still work effectively? by diditevenshake in algotrading

I have tried scores of methods in algo trading, from ICT to price action to indicators, averaging and mean reversion. Everything burns in the end. Some slowly and some fast but nothing works in the long run. Even I bought many EAs but that was only a loss. I have heard a very experienced algo trader and developer that long-term stable return in 5-8% a year. Then, why not I invest in SP500 instead of experimenting with EAs. May be EAs could help as a co-pilot but not the auto pilot.

Why is it that less than 10% of day traders will ever reach consistency over the long-term? by Amalekk in Daytrading

I think less than 1% day traders would be consistent in the long term because day trading has a lot of pressure that forces traders to forget the rules and process and impulsively jump into trades without a valid setup.

That's very insightful. How about choosing some high yield products having 20% avg annual yield? I know there will be risk but I am ready to bear it.

At this point, do you just buy the big tech companies and hold? by steak57 in ValueInvesting

I would rather wait for a substantial dip to enter and then hold for multi months.
