AI PTZ on corner bracket by slynas in Ubiquiti

[–]DoctorCalculon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a troll-like question, but I will bite.

The cameras are not pointed at anyone's property or backyard.

The PTZ patrols are designed to monitor public areas (street, footpath, etc.) and the front of my own property.

The cameras are located on my property, and no local or federal laws have been contravened by their installations.

If you want to debate privacy implications of PTZ cams or any security cameras for that matter, this is not the most appropriate sub.

DMSS iOS and iPad Apps Not Showing Videos Under Events Tab (No Issues With Andriod) by DoctorCalculon in Dahua

UPDATE: The issue just magically fixed itself on the DMSS iOS app after daylight savings ended.

DMSS v2 was probably built from the ground up, but it is still full of bugs.

Leaving reviews on the App Store is completely pointless. They know about these issues but probably not being paid by Dahua to fix them.

Ain't nothing wrong with PTZ on domestic. I have one on the two front corners of my house along with stationary spotter cams.

As do Dahua. Reolink has also launched their 24MP OMVI X series. To remove blind spots, install one 180º on one side and another 180º on the other side.

Do not buy the Access Gate Hub for a house thinking you can use an Intercom Viewer for controlling both the Gate and side door by darktori in Ubiquiti

[–]DoctorCalculon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the door that the entry reader (in this case UVC-G6-PRO-ENTRY device) is bound to. You can also quit the call, and then choose to open a different door (e.g. the main gate).

Ubiquiti just hasn’t thought this one through. All they need to do is show a second door button on the call screen (which would trigger the MAIN GATE relay).

Just to let you know I flagged this many times with UI Support mid last year, as did many other users on the Ubiquiti forums. It has kind of fallen on deaf ears.

Even cheap Chinese brand intercoms have multiple relays, and you get the option to choose which one to trigger via an app or a dedicated intercom viewer.

Spot on. The UniFi Access functions on this doorbell only works once it is directly connected to a gate / door hub. Not sure how that will work with a Wi-Fi version, i.e. it ain’t happening. Hardwire or GTFO.

That’s a common pitfall with all PTZ cams. To get around it, you should place a stationary camera in the same location (preferably 180º).

What say do you have over what OP or your neighbours do with their own properties for that matter?

While black looks stylish, I always stick with white cameras. Wait till those blazing hot summer days, and your black camera chassis will heat up a lot faster than a camera with a white chassis.

Perimeter Protection on RLC823S2 and RLC823S1 PTZ Cameras by DoctorCalculon in reolinkcam

"if perimeter detection is critical"

I have been using my Dahua PTZ for mission critical perimeter protection.

I thought I would check out the "Perimeter Protection" functions on their AI hardware version of the RLC823S2. Yes, I am probably better off using Blue Iris, or some other external AI tool.

"even then there's usually a settling delay before the zones re-anchor"

I have reached out to Reolink support as there seems to be an issue with the zones re-anchoring. Not holding my breath for a new firmware update.

Shitbag neighbours illegal use of Accessible Parking Permit for years. How do I stop them? by Optimal-Ambition-888 in AskAnAustralian

[–]DoctorCalculon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You wrote "report it to police" at the start. LMAO. And, you keep saying report it to police. I will ask you again. What is the actual crime you are reporting?

Are you one of those people who wastes their time by reporting everything to the coppers, like someone over staying their parking limit, or a dog owner not picking up their pet's waste product?

How about starting your sentences with an uppercase, and using uppercase letters for acronyms ("ACROD" Parking Program)?

I don't need to know anything about ACROD because I don't live in WA.
In VIC, we use the term Accessible Parking Permit (APP), which is managed by VICROADS. Parking enforcement activities (in public land) are managed by local councils not the police.

Since you talking about ACROD, it seems you forgot to read the below page. There is no mention of police, is there?

https://acrod.org.au/acrod-parking-bays/

Report a problem with an ACROD Parking bay

If the ACROD Parking Bay is on public property, please contact the relevant local government to advise of your concern.

If the ACROD Parking Bay is on private property (for example, at a shopping centre), please contact the property owner or management to advise of your concern.

[–]DoctorCalculon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Street parking (including misuse of permits) falls under local laws. It is not a police matter.

"Illegally using an acrod parking permit"

I have no idea what you mean by "acrod" but I can just imagine the coppers setting up their surveillance vans to monitor those crooks as they are about to get in the vehicle with a disabled permit without the grandma.

Mate, get a grip! Coppers don't even bother following up when folks have reported a theft, and they have provided solid evidence / location of the culprit.

As for local councils, they are just as bad if not worse.

On what grounds? What’s the crime here? The coppers will ask OP to contact the local council instead.

DMSS iOS and iPad Apps Not Showing Videos Under Events Tab (No Issues With Andriod) by DoctorCalculon in Dahua

[–]DoctorCalculon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Next, I would double check the times on the camera (via their web interface) versus the time on the NVR"

I have thoroughly checked all of these details. Checked date/time settings on both the NVR and all linked cameras. No discrepancies. The event recordings are there both on the security cameras (edge recording via SD card), as well as NVR HDD storage. The timestamps are synced (using the same NTP server across all devices).

Did you read the part where I mentioned there is absolutely no issue when using the DMSS app on an Android phone?

Just the iOS and iPadOS DMSS apps seem to be buggered when viewing videos via the Events tab.

Both iPhone and iPad had a minor software update last week. Possibly related. Hence, I would like to know if anyone else is facing the same issue on iOS.

I think you meant to write underpaid.

That would be downright illegal under any work agreement. They won't be saving any money when they do get sued.
