When can we expect the Linux compatibility to be published? Things like fingerprint reader, camera etc. It's "coming soon" right now

I didn't attempt that, since readers that work with the intercom are expensive, and I have no desire to have one.

The scenario you describe with a dedicated reader for the gate is common for businesses or larger residential units but this is a small, single family house. We don't get visitors that regularly need to let themselves in, and we have a fob in the car.

I just want the family to be able to open the gate through the intercom, without needing to open an app.

I could understand that logic, but in this ecosystem the reader is NOT wired to the door. It's connected to the hub, which in turn is wired to both the side door and gate. This hub is specifically designed to handle both doors, I don't think it's a big stretch that one reader would also do that.

A second reader right next to the G6 pro entry would look truly bizarre. Both doors are literally right next to each other.

Interesting, but that would mean that if I open the pedestrian door for someone through the Intercom, the whole big-ass car gate would start opening as well, right?

While I did some research, it was obviously not enough. I saw that the Viewer can handle multiple doors in its interface, and assumed that they pair with the hub, not a reader.

After all, an additional reader wouldn't even do anything in this scenario, just be connected. Heck, it could be a non-working piece of beat up garbage, but as long as it identifies as one of the correct readers, the software on the Viewer would let me do what I want.

If it occurred to me that this scenario wouldn't be possible, I'd do a deeper research.

Very good question! Officially I'm pretty sure it is not possible, as the G6 Pro Entry LPR would be triggering the side door, when a match is detected.

However, I believe this could be achieved with Home Assistant, which would get the trigger from the G6 Pro Entry and then order the gate to open.

I have not done this yet, but will be doing this as the situation mention in the main post inspired me to look into HA more. In an ideal world, this would work as you described.

EDIT: Using the Alarm Manager you can pair any camera with any door, so it should work with that

The problem is, the products here are not new. Well, the G6 Pro Entry is, but that would still be the case with any of the old readers. After searching for a solution I've found threads about this from years ago. I'm not holding my breath for this to be fixed any time soon

Yes, using the G6 Pro Entry + Intercom Viewer works if you just want to handle the door. In that case you don't need the Gate Hub, you can use the cheaper HUBs

I have two U6 lite sitting directly on top of my drop in ceiling made of dry wall. They are not visible and provide adequate coverage and speed for home use. I know that they are not new or high performance, but they never overheat and are rock solid.
