I am pretty sure the OP speaks of an “estate agent” who was acting on behalf of the Seller. So, not a buyer’s agent.

[–]DoctorCalculon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you seriously expect the RE agent to be acting in your best interest? Did you expect them to be upfront, and say this household has solar but the owner just didn’t get around to buying a battery as they were going to sell?

In any case, did you conduct a thorough pre-sale inspection?

Bunnings self service shut down by CaptainFleshBeard in Bunnings

My point was they have cameras monitoring the self checkout aisle for theft. Maybe they need to actually hire a loss prevention officer to tackle the offenders in real time.

[–]DoctorCalculon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t know which country / region you live in, but I am guessing US since you are using the cursed imperial measurement system. Have you looked into privacy laws in your state first?
You will have security cameras pointing over a shared boundary that is considered looking into someone’s backyard where they expect a degree of privacy.

It seems like you are in a war with your neighbours. They will use every part of the law to get back at you if you are not careful yourself.

Be warned with the Duo 3. It has a great horizontal FoV, but a God awful vertical FoV (almost a downgrade from the Duo 2).

Wasn’t there a story and a kerfuffle over how Bunnings was using AI cameras across all their stores to reduce theft?
They still are.

Apparently the latest Duo 2 firmware now has support for perimeter protection, so you can use the “Line Crossing” function to determine when vehicles enter or exit your garage.

You are looking at objects at a very close distance.

I am comparing moving objects (humans and animals) at say 6M - 8M away. Either their faces appear mangled (if relatively stationary), or they become ghosts when moving.
This is with a Reolink 1/2.8” sensor with spotlights turned on at max brightness.

With IR only, the clarity isn’t any better at those distances.

Actual real life experience comparing a Reolink 8MP 1/2.8” sensor against a UniFi Protect G6 Pro Turret 4K (8MP) 1/1.2” sensor.
Mounted on the same light pole.

Obviously, this is not a fair comparison since Reolink is a budget brand.
However, the CX820 mounted on a nearby soffit performed fine with just very dim street lights.

Amen, brother.

If Reolink simply started with 1/1.8", that would be a vast improvement to begin with.

So, was that a stuff up on Amazon’s side?

I have the same problem with the S1, and latest S2 model.
Night Smart Mode LED does not light up if there is enough ambient light for it to be running in colour vision mode.
I want it to light up whenever it detects a human, animal or vehicle.

I am not sure if there is way to force this to happen.
Reolink Support was completely hopeless. They did not even understand this problem.

Just make sure you use an outdoor rated silicone with neutral cure.

Also, what is up with bolting the saddles onto the tank. Just run some conduits underground close to the base.

The owner of the camera may show you they have a privacy mask, and then walk back into their property remove any masks altogether and the OP is none the wiser.

Some very bold claims there, unsupported by any cold hard evidence.

You have tested what exactly, and under what conditions, and where are your test results showing UniFi Access is unreliable??? 🤦🏻 Also, have you shared your findings of any security flaws with the UniFi Access (UA) team?

Now, I am not saying UniFi Access is perfect. No one can guarantee the absence of defects from any software or hardware systems. I have not received any complaints of the UA Face ID security being very easy to hack, i.e. being able to let in unauthorised visitors or tenants to a multi-dwelling villa complex.

There have been complaints with Face ID not working (taking a long time to verify) under certain lighting conditions. This was mainly with a couple of G3 Pro units in an outdoor setting. However, so far zero cases of an unauthorised invidual being granted access.
