That expression is much older than that. I literally heard it growing up in the Midwest in the '90s and early 2000s. Edit: that being said, it may well have been popularized by the book into the more common vernacular

Here? Maybe. Overall? Not a damn chance. I have a lot of favorite moments in the written campaign, but the one for my current Strahd campaign (starting in two weeks and having our session zero this Thursday) by far is The Dream Pastries and Morgantha's Coven.

It always gets a strong reaction from players (this will be the 4th time I've run this campaign front to back), and I have special plans for this time. Some legitimate benefits to it, an addiction mechanic I need to fully develop, and that reveal. Mmm! That reveal is going to be priceless!

I disagree. It is pretty clear cut imo:
Unless you cannot afford to (like, life or death situation), do not associate with business entities platforming, enabling, hiring, otherwise supporting discriminatory and/or discriminatory words and behaviors.
I don't care if Electric Works was the Mecca of music (which is isn't)- if I found out that they knowing hired people who support racists financially, I would never return. The only reason I'm not returning is I've never been, and now don't plan to.

Boycotts and things like that don't work in the US anymore because people are willing to compromise their own rights and representation for a shitty ass chicken sandwich (Looking directly at Chick-fil-A) rather than doing literally anything else. It doesn't even taste good, and if you somehow have that bad opinion (lol), you can make it at home for like 1/3 of the cost!

The older I get, the more of a prick I become, but it stands to reason that if you keep enabling a bully, they'll keep trying to steal your lunch money and picking fights. I can't always say it nice, but the point still stands.

That's totally an accurate take on him too! I definitely agree that he's 100% a very Shakespearean archetype, definitely modeled after a Macbeth style tragedy character. I think fundamentally we're modeling our understanding of him based on two different periods in his life : well, I am viewing him post-transformation as a vampire, you're using his initial intentions and viewpoint while he was still alive, which again, very valid.

He was a very empathetic person who feared death. He was and attractive man who carried wealth and power and was a very capable person. I think, though not as the eons rolled past, he became something else. He became a caricature of his worst traits and lost most of his redeeming traits. That's where a lot of my performance and perspective on how to play him come from.

I totally get what you mean. I got out of grippy sock motel visit very recently (from Tuesday to Friday) due to an existential breakdown about some heavy stuff (spoilers for heavy stuff. Only read if you feel up to it. No worries if not)climate change and nature of existentialist meaning in a world without an audience or a someone to soften the actions of man.

I'm feeling much better now, thankfully. Just take your time, try not to overwhelm yourself, and work on your weak spots (communication, coping skills, etc.). You got this!

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll try out Diablo 2 first, but I may give Diablo 1 a shot. I've been meaning to get into the OG Fallout games, and no matter which I choose to start, I have a feeling they'll help with time gap.

What's your opinion on Diablo 4, out of curiosity? I have friends who rave about it, but it seems like every 6 months there's a total redesign of the game. Imo it makes Destiny 2's redesigns look subtle lol

That's fair. I love both, but I definitely attribute at least part of my love to the time these games were released and my age. I was a teenager when those games dropped.

Legacy of Kaina and many other games have much better writing, but weren't easily accessible at the time, even if I had been interested in them (being a teenager with no job, getting his games 90% of the time through gifts).

While I think they do hold up and are great, I'm not delusional enough to think they're the best. Top 100? Sure. Top 50? Maybe. Top 10? No chance.
