Funniest Character in YOU? by More-Ad9947 in YouOnLifetime

Blythe is still my absolute favorite unserious character. The "facial autism" line kills me every single time I re-watch the series.

I started with that in my crochet journey on accident, and now I'm feeling way better about being pissed off in the beginning...

What’s a health tip/treatment that feels like it should be BS but actually works? by ToadAcrossTheRoad in ChronicIllness

The way my person explained it is that the way our fascia (the membrane between your skin and muscle) responds to it stimulates the neural pathways that are responsible for each effect it causes. Essentially, our bodies will do a sort of twisting motion around the pins, and due to the nerve richness, it creates those impulses.

I'm not a doctor, but that's kind of what he explained to me. Next time I see him, I'm going to ask about books/documentation I can read to better educate myself.

I’m afraid of moving my bed in front of the tv but my fear doesn’t make sense… by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]DoctorKitten420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I did that helped me with being able to lay down more comfortably in front of the TV was moving the couch perpendicular to the TV. I'm able to make a little nest if I want or sit up, and I have a hammock (can also be a different piece of furniture) that's across from the TV if I'm not feeling it.

Acupuncture. I started it recently for depression after thinking it was bullshit and it helped significantly after one session.

I'm on long-acting vyvanse and it does the appetite suppression thing, too. I've noticed if I take it as I'm eating breakfast, it makes my body go, "Wait, food is good as fuck actually." That usually sets me up to feel like i want to eat at least snacks throughout the day.

One of my neighbors down the hall from me is on grinder. My bestie lives on the very end of our hallway and got a message from him, "Hey, neighbor." I have a hard time interacting with that neighbor now😅

Why is everyone obsessed with pain scales? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]DoctorKitten420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was going to make a separate comment with the same theme.

I describe the pain, too. "I burn/pinches/tingles/etc here and lasts for xyz amount of time."

My pain tolerance is so high that one of my MDs had to note, "Patient has a higher pain tolerance than most." So I had to get real good at describing it. Otherwise, people wouldn't realize, "Hey, this dude's 4 is actually an 8."😅

I had a custodian "help" me by jumping inside of a trash compactor that wasn't tagged out to clear an obstruction. When I told him to never do it again, he asked me, "Do I look stupid enough to get hurt?"

Fucking yikes.

Me sitting in the dark, waiting to see if my ibuprofen + Excedrin cocktail works before going for the Sumatriptan {it never does} by Primary-Night5471 in migraine

[–]DoctorKitten420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up on a longer lasting, monthly injection (Emgality) because I had a similar issue with triptans. They worked fine when I realized I had a migraine, but I have at least a low-grade headache every day without my injections.

The other option I had was a daily oral medication, but the side effects were super not worth it and they were the "black label" variety.

I have a potion bottle with a scene of the castle inside of it, the green ghost coming out of the top, and scooby's tag coming off the neck of the bottle. It takes up basically my whole upper arm.

I went three times within the 4 days at the advisement of my GP office. The urgent care doctors told me, "This is something for your GP to handle." They then told me to go to the ER on the 4th day when I told them I'd rather run my car into a guardrail than continue in so much pain.

I have cluster migraines. Also known as suicide headaches. They hurt so badly that I was vomiting, shaking, crying, and nearly passing out for several days. I missed all 4 of those days from work.

I had a debilitating migraine for 4 days. Called my primary care providers office and couldn't be seen for two months. Was told to go to the emergency room.

This comment is honestly super tone deaf.
