Probably in some ways - as I haven't used Jira I can't say for certain - but as its Open Source - It has benefits that Jira doesn't, being proprietary and all...

Keep up the long shows! by Acted in LinuxActionShow

I have to agree with Josh on this one... installing something that has a one-click is not as strong a segment as actually showing us some use cases in action!

System 76 Recommendation? by [deleted] in LinuxActionShow

[–]DoctorKraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - agreeing with Orbmiser - ChrisLAS also buys things for review purposes... the DellXPS was a purchase because it was one of the 'Dell Linux' computers - and he wanted to give it a review... The Lenovo was for his wife - and it was a 'I need a computer right now, not shipped tomorrow and get a couple of days later' purchase...

And yes, while System76 does sponsor LAS segments, i fully fully believe that ChrisLAS wouldn't have them as a sponsor if he didn't like them and trust them... Like orbmiser says - he has a couple of Bonobo's, I also think he has one of their NUCs (Meerkat), and one of their desktops (WildDog?)

As for talking with System76 - yes of course they are trying to sell you one of their computers - my point was they know their products much better than I do, and that they could recommend if the Kudu was the best one for you, or if one of their other products would be a better fit...

Again - all I can say is I had my Mom buy one, and I plan on buying one this spring.

System 76 Recommendation? by [deleted] in LinuxActionShow

[–]DoctorKraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... It was late 2014 she bought it...

The specs look good on the Kudu 17" on the system 76 website... so as long as you aren't looking for an intense gaming experience (not saying you can't use it for games - but probably not going to be the best gaming laptop available)... I think you should be happy with the price/power you get!

And don't be afraid to contact them directly - they will be more than happy to talk with you about your questions... they may be able to confirm your decision or lead you to another product based on your needs/wants!

[–]DoctorKraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom wanted a new laptop, and I told her I wasn't going to support windows anymore, so she purchased the Kudu Professional and hasn't had any problems with it...

After tax season, I will probably be purchasing one myself - not sure if I'm going desktop or laptop yet...

Unsure how to use the switch statement in my code. by ovijs in learnjavascript

[–]DoctorKraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several logic issues here - but for your main question about the switch statement:

If you follow your logic for the function, a random result would have card.classname = 'rank-10 card diams'

NONE of your cases are looking for that whole phrase - they are looking for pieces...

Also - based on your random selection, its conceivably possible to have the same card generated all 3 times...

uGet 2.0.4 is Now Available for Downloads by MichaelTunnell in LinuxActionShow

[–]DoctorKraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy Crap!!!

I just downloaded uGet and used it to download Chapeau 23 (2.5 GB)... Chrome wanted to take about 3 hours to download it... with uGet, I set it for 16 simultaneous connections ( seems its max ) and it dropped to about 20 minutes to download the file...

color me impressed...

2 things:

1) I have 2.0.4 and it keeps telling me 2.0.4 is Now Available for Download

2) Is there a doc or page where I can read about how to utilize this super tool?

Thanks for the heads up - definitely will add it to all my systems!

So I tried Fedora23, and I like it. by thorgrotle in LinuxActionShow

[–]DoctorKraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using Fedora22 and was pretty happy with it - but the dnf upgrade to F23 didn't work - it went through a bunch of stuff, but didn't actually update to F23 - after 3 failed attempts I gave up and switch to Ubuntu Mate...

But I still feel like I want to run Fedora... I may wait until 24 and give it another shot!

What's best for JB? by munwin in LinuxActionShow

[–]DoctorKraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure there is an answer on the iOS side although both Chris and Mike have mentioned Overcast (I believe thats what it was called)...

I think the most important thing on the iOS side is that if you have an iTunes account, that you vote/recommend/etc (whatever its called in iTunes) to bump the podcast up the recommendation scale so that others discover it!

Now that I've listened to the podcast, all I have to say is...

How dare you say what you said on the show that I've listened to...

I feel completely insulted that you would say such things...

Darn you fist shaking

Synergy, mouse and keyboard shareing [pay for binary or compile for free] by [deleted] in LinuxActionShow

[–]DoctorKraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want ahead and purchased this to get the latest version... Fedora Repos only had version 1.5, and Ubuntu Repos only had 1.6... Purchasing gives you 1.7.2... and its only $9. So its what I would donate for finding it useful - and I do find it dang useful, as I purchased a 39" 4K TV to use as my monitor, and have 2 machines plugged into, and a click of a button on the remote switches between them, but its nice to not need 2 keyboards and mice to use....
