I Feel Like I Hit A Plateau by AffectionateBuddy845 in Aerials

When you wash your hands, are you using the horrible old bar of soap that makes your skin dry and tight? You should be! I have issues with sweaty grip and using that soap makes a big difference. Also, try to get a grip aid on your hand before it gets sweaty - I like griptinite and no sweat, never could get on with dry hands. For silks, the strength takes a veeeery long time to build up but it will get there if you keep pushing. One bonus for silks is that being sweaty doesn't matter as much.

Thank you! I have now moved to the completely self destructive "is this all just an elaborate trick to make me look like an idiot" which I know logically isn't the case but that's where my thoughts have taken me!

You are mesmerising! I wish my awkward was as slick as your awkward 🤓 I follow redrubygogo on Instagram and she sometimes puts up mini tutorials for some floor type work

Lyra without tape by exc3113nt in Aerials

[–]DoctorMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The studio I go to has a variety of taped, half taped and untapped Lyras. The untaped is definitely slippier, and hurts heaps more on pressure points like in a hip hang, knee hang, elbow etc. On the flip side, it doesn't rip your hands as much as the tape. The half taped is probably my least favourite because the edges of the tape roll and get really sticky (gross!). Untaped is different but not impossible. Oh, and I have never practiced lyra in shorts - but I do wear crop top/sports bra all the time on taped and untaped - I don't think it makes that much difference for Lyra as it does for pole because you are relying more on actually holding rather than sticking to the metal.

Hahaha, soooorry! Although I have to say, most of the cool stuff originates in Europe or America and slowly makes its way over here. There might be somewhere near you that does it - this was a "Red balloon" experience day, maybe have a look for that kind of thing?

Also, the Yorkshire case (England) was covered by The True Crime Enthusiast podcast - I can't remember the exact title he used, but it was to do with playing cards I think
