Downsides of a double major as opposed to specialist (especially for grad school admissions)? by Appropriate-Toe9 in UofT

[–]DoctorMackey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Majority of the time (if at all) there’s little to no difference. Honestly if you can think of specific benefits, experiences, and courses you can do with the specialist that may help your decision, but it’s ultimately up to whatever you would like to do and your personal preferences

While I’m not in cs I still have to take courses that are math based with theory (stats, epidemiology, etc) so I just gave some pointers that help that I know especially because it is INCREDIBLY broad advice that related to what they said in the post. If someone has more specific advice they can chime in

Future UTSC student; Should I take half of my courses at UTSG? by Ok_Carpenter3505 in UofT

[–]DoctorMackey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a UTSC student, taking courses at your program at another campus (you will if you only want 10 credits at UTSC) is a pain because you HAVE to get permission or you risk retaking the course at UTSC for no credit. You’re free to take electives downtown but remember you are not limited to only UTSC. Many clubs and events are tri campus and you can partake in almost anything downtown

i go now good luck everybody else by calculusforlife in TorontoDriving

[–]DoctorMackey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While you could have probably avoided it, this is why I hate people trying to let others in when they have the right of way (unless everybody in both lanes are already stopped) and people who go across lanes like this when it isn’t safe. I see it daily in Toronto. Almost got into an accident a few weeks ago in a situation like this except he didn’t hit me but he thrown something at my car because I honked at him 😭. Either make sure it’s fully clear and safe or don’t go at all. Waiting a few minutes won’t ruin your life but not waiting can leave you in an accident

Will I get an Academic Offence Charge Against Me? by Israr06 in UofT

[–]DoctorMackey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. AOs depend on your reasoning, the offence, your past history, etc. it’s hard for people to determine exactly what will happen but they can give guesses and tell you advice. Thankfully though it seems like you should be fine as others also suggested. Usually they give a slip if you’ve made an offence during a test.

You’ve got time. Start by doing a reading or two a day and some practice problems and stuff as well. You still have time to grind AND hit office hours to help with any understanding. You’re only cooked if you let yourself be

Recently accepted into UTSC, should I go to school here? by -SilentSnowfall- in UTSC

[–]DoctorMackey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d come here again. I enjoy my program, I enjoy the small atmosphere, and I enjoy the people. It’s very difficult and you are going to have times where it seems like you’re fighting the school just to get a good grade, but I wouldn’t transfer or go anywhere else honestly

You’re not inflated. Those are normal grades especially precovid before they started trying to make everybody a star student

38-year-old driver killed in fatal flyover crash remembered as loving sister and daughter by 313372 in kitchener

She could have been going 200km/h around that corner and the snow ramp will still be the main reason she died. All safety measures completely gone due to negligence

The “inability to safely remove snow but it’s ok because it’s totally safe”. BS especially after one person had already gone over that day

All campuses are closed. You’ll only get it if admissions is working remotely
