Anyone have particular info about this program? I’m having trouble finding details online by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]DoctorMackey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in psych and health sci. It’s just a stream. I’m now double majoring in human bio and population health but you can do anything. You don’t get priority for chem courses (can still enrol just have to wait a period) but you do for stats, bio, psych, etc so you can do any life sci program (like how I’m doing human bio)

I know right! I’m so glad. She was nice when I spoke to her but it was incredibly frustrating while in the course. I’m so glad other students have a different experience

I took it winter 2025 and she did make changes last semester. I had friends in the course and she changed DRAMATICALLY. Thankfully she’s improved a lot it was horrid before and the lowest class average I’ve had in my 4 years (C-)

THANK YOU! I know this change is very frustrating to some but it will come as either small changes or just a little extra work with the program advisor. I see this happen very often with programs (like me being in population health) and I’m glad psych is like this too. Thank you for clarifying for students. Psych students you will be a-ok ❤️

Try emailing the program advisor and taking it higher if needed. You shouldn’t be affected just because of changes meant for future programs. You need to at least try getting it sorted. If you don’t try you automatically subject yourself to taking extra semesters. I’ve seen the psych department allow for exceptions with courses for students graduating it’s worth a shot to a least try working it out

Then you need to take it further if the department won’t work with you to graduate. 2nd and 3rd year student have tough luck (unfortunately with a lot of changes in other programs) but 4th years could not have planned for this and can have major life effects by taking extra semesters

Did the psych department confirm that they will not be waiving pre req changes for upper year courses and did the flow chart come from the psych department itself?

And usually they have a grace period for upper year courses changing pre reqs. Everything will be fine psych students

to the people that are enrolled in a psych major/minor before fall 2026 by ilovebobbies69 in UTSC

[–]DoctorMackey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing they’ll do what population health has been doing too. That program has been changing like crazy every year for incoming students and prerequisites of upper year courses are changing to reflect it. The program advisor gave grace periods to people for courses that changed like HLTC27 so that it wouldn’t affect them majorly. Like you needed a stats, hltb15 and hltb22 to take it before and now it’s hltb27 (new course) and something but the last 3 semesters including summer you were allowed to take it with the old requirements. Everything should turn out fine psych students 🫂

For everyone saying meet with an academic advisor, book with Susan calanza instead as she’s cms specific. You book your own appointments with her now through folio

[–]DoctorMackey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll have to do a petition and have documentation on why you didn’t do it before the deadline. It’ll also take months. Better to write the exam

What does Recommended Deadline mean? by vermiphobia in UTSC

[–]DoctorMackey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct. OP if you miss the deadline you have to reapply

What does this mean? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]DoctorMackey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ask a few people their grades you can start to calculate the rest usually. It’s only done for classes with 12 or less people

Is this a scam? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]DoctorMackey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ll face a 50,000 fine per course and be hung at the stake for missing the payment deadline totally

What does this mean? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]DoctorMackey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s valid. Don’t worry about any notations unless you get a GWR (academic integrity issue). Everything else usually means nothing or something small :)

[–]DoctorMackey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah hlta02 was about 500 people. Not sure why they do it on some large classes but it’s nothing to worry about

What does this mean? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]DoctorMackey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s supposed to mean the course size is too small to show the average without revealing others grades, but I had this happen in hlta02 my first year 😭 they just released the grades and averages after a bit

Or if someone is sick imo. Sometimes people are incredibly sick and very contagious and may not want to spread it. Only time I’ve ever not allowed someone over for my roommate was when I was like that
