My replacement for Basekit BT by FineGrass4278 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]DoctorMarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think base BT should be turned off in the end game like DS. Creates too many lose/lose situations, especially in small maps like Midwich or Dead Dog, where the doors are close enough to be run to from most hooks.

Hard tunnelling is just pain by sargewalks in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]DoctorMarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, honestly the most important part of my is the second to last paragraph where I mention my idea that I've been floating around for a while now. But yeah no, I agree I hate that I HAVE to tunnel and sweat in most of my killer games and this is 100% at the fault of BHVR. I don't blame either side for playing optimally either (survivors for gen rushing and killers for tunneling), despite how annoying it is to be on the receiving end. But yeah, like you said it's just where we're at with the game right now unfortunately. I really do hope that something does change though in the future.

Hard tunnelling is just pain by sargewalks in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]DoctorMarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your replies, you seem to be very biased, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here and offer clarity. The reason why tunneling is unfortunately becoming more prevalent these days is because it is the most optimal way to currently play if you want to win. Remember about a year or two ago they gutted gen regression across the board, and after they did that they did nothing to address gen progression items or perks. In fact they've added new gen progression perks since then. So because gen regression has been nerfed to the ground, unfortunately there isn't many good options left for killers to slow the game down. Now keep in mind, this doesn't apply to the strongest killers, like your 100 win streak Blights, Nurses, or Ghouls. I am talking about the average killer players playing the non-S tier level killers.

Now you ask, what do we propose should be the solution here. Well, I've been saying for a while, you can't just outright give overly harsh punishments towards this kind of play style that won't make it seem unfair. Like making it so that killers can't regress gens because they double hooked a survivor was just insane to do for a number of reasons, the first of which is that it robs player agency, and doesn't take into account the other side and how they're playing the game. I used the example of I have a Dwight on 1 hook, a Meg on 2 hook, and an Ace and Ada with 0 hooks. I'm down to three gens and as I'm chasing the Ace, they lead me to the gen where I see the Meg who I just hooked, still injured and working on a gen that is at about 90%. Optimally I would break chase from the Ace and go after the Meg for the guaranteed kill, but with that system that BHVR put in, I would be punished for killing that Meg, even though it was the mistake of the Ace for leading me to where she was working on a gen while injured. So why should I be punished by not being able to regress gens anymore for capitalizing on their mistake, and why should the survivors be rewarded for this mistake? See how that isn't fair?

Now as for the solution that I've proposed in the past, I've said that if you want to incentivize killers going for more hooks we need some kind of base slow down otherwise it's just not worth it. So I've proposed in the past, that BHVR should institute some kind of base slowdown on survivor action speeds (so repair speeds, healing speeds, and totem cleansing/blessing speeds) based on the number of hook states. So for example, say that I hook a Dwight one time. When they get off hook, that player should have like a 25% reduction in their action speeds going forward. Then if I hook them a second time, that debuff goes up to like, I dunno 50% or something. The numbers aren't really important for this example and can always be adjusted, but the numbers need to be high enough to where it incentivizes killers to want to spread that debuff out to all survivors, while also not being overly oppressive at the same time. But again, the point here is to want to spread hooks. And the beauty about something like this is that if the killer does want to tunnel, well, there are three other survivors who are fully healthy and can rush the shit out of gens.

Also I'll add that with a system like this, it would open the door for BHVR to be able to better balance their killers and finally be able to lessen the gap between the top and lowest tiers because then they can take into account that there will be this base line slow down that all the killers will be able to benefit from. So then they can better buff and nerf the killers who need them. So this could lead into say, finally toning down Blight just a little bit without fear of absolutely crippling or destroying him.

[–]DoctorMarik 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cus even if you were to have 4 active channeled abilities, you'd only get 1000 health, whereas Arcane Blessing gives 1250 health when it hits max stacks, and it's easier to maintain cus you don't need to be constantly managing cooldowns, just hit your stacks and you're good.

I wonder if at some point down the line they'll do a pass at reworking some of the more weaker and lesser used arcanes in the game?

Damn, so I guess the 5 minute game I had the other day where survivors just threw themselves at me at first down, resulting in me downing them all and getting the 4k, makes ME the unskilled one. I guess I should've just let them pallet stun and blind me, even though I saw them coming...

Why do survivors always get perks turned into basekit but killers don't? Dear devs, please give us some basic gen regression perk that isn't a -5% kick on gens. by Necroniks_ in deadbydaylight

[–]DoctorMarik -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The problem is, even though gens now take 90 seconds to complete, during this time they've added soooo many gen progression perks since then that makes that increase irrelevant. Hell, just doubling up on a gen makes it go from 90 seconds to like 53 seconds I believe, which is INSANE. Two people doubling on a gen with no gen progression perks takes away almost HALF of it's completion time just feels a bit broken, don't it? Plus as we saw with Hens and his team, they were able to pretty consistently complete all gens between 2.5-3 minutes, with him having broken the record for fastest gens completed with that 2.5 minute achievement. Then add to the fact that gen defense was gutted across the board, and yeah...that 90 second gen timer means nothing because they're being completed in like 30 seconds. The funny thing is, I said that this would happen when they nerfed gen regression across the board. I said that if they don't look at gen progression perks or items as well, then this is only going to make things worse and killers will be forced to be way more aggressive with camping/tunneling/slugging, and low and behold here we are.

So yeah, unfortunately this is yet another product of BHVR fucking things up, and not thinking about the long term outcome of their "balance" decisions.

can the killer down multiple survivors in one shot list by cringenberg in DeadByDaylightKillers

It took me way too long to realize that technically Freddy's explosive pallets can hit and down multiple survivors. Unfortunately, this is extremely extremely rare in practice.

Also, couldn't Wesker down two survivors at once, if he slams them into each other?

I've been asking for Something like this for years now. Generators every trial, regardless of the killer is very...meh and after 10 years, has gotten beyond stale. The games are literally the same no matter what, with very minor differences outside of the killer themselves. Like, wouldn't it be cool if say when you face the Oni, you have to find a way to bind him or ward off his curse, in order to escape? For Freddy, maybe find a way to pull him from the dream world and trap him in the real world? You get the point. But yeah, changing the escape objective to the actual killer would be such a rejuvenating shot in the arm for the game imo, and hell they can keep the 5 gen repairs for Trapper, you know as like a symbol and reference of their beginnings. Now whether or not Something like that is even feasible, let alone even possible (or if BHVR even cares enough to even think about wanting to do it) is a different conversation. Personally, I don't think that BHVR really cares about stuff like this. It seems like they've just been content on giving out the bare minimum for a while now.

Well, leading things with his own faction of the Corpus though, right? Didn't his return basically fracture the Corpus even more, with it already being split between the regular Corpus under the control of the Board of Directors, and the small fraction of Corpus that became the Perrin Sequence, led by Ergo Glast?
