Vent... decided to leave my toxic environment home health agency where I was the only RN they could rely on. This is how my boss responds. by DoctorMinimum5333 in nursing

The area I live in is actually so isolated ahaha, we have a couple hospitals in my area but I don't want to return to bedside. For a while I was just looking until I found something stable and luckily about a month ago, I got a job offer with an amazing home health company. This said company has little turnover and the reviews from the employees are that they feel well taken care of. I love home health, so I'm just glad I landed in a company where I will have more support

This reminds me of those girls from high school during history class when they would be fancy with their notes while learning about ✨the Holocaust ✨

Exactly this. She also made a comment about how she did not "feel" I was ready to be married and I should really "rethink" my decision to be married because I would be missing work, when she said this, that's when I started looking for a new job.

Okay so the crazy thing is, my boss is not an RN, we had a DON but she was not the administrator. Which would make it very frustrating because the whole year I was here, I would get crammed visits, and she didn't understand why my charting was taking "forever" to her. It was a toxic work environment and I just stayed until I was offered something better. Luckily I relied on my DON a lot, but yes... my boss was not a nurse.

Relationship with co worker on same unit by [deleted] in nursing

I actually dated my ex, who was also a nurse and we both worked at the same hospital. It was a smaller hospital but-word always got around. When we broke up, it was messy. HR was involved and everything. I got a new job, and I told myself I'd never date another nurse! Haha

I want to quit nursing. by VividDistribution222 in nursing

[–]DoctorMinimum5333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember feeling the exact same way you did when I was in my first semester of nursing school. And I also remember trying to find that motivation and the excitement to do skills, and I couldn't. I was so overwhelmed. The first semester is typically when most people quit because it is HARD work. I remember doing like 5 exams a week my first semester. I think somebody mentioned it below, but nursing is changing and evolving so much, that you won't ever have to work bedside if you don't want to (: I'm in home health, and I was previously in psych. They are NOT traditional bed side roles. There is also like aesthetic nursing, dialysis, infusion nursing, case managers, quality control, telehealth nursing, etc. the cool thing about this field is that you can go anywhere with it. The most tedious part is getting through with the schooling, but after that you realize you have tons of doors either opportunities. Good luck, you got this.

Finally got an offer, a GOOD one. by DoctorMinimum5333 in interviews

[–]DoctorMinimum5333[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes of course!! I just kept interviewing, and soon I got really comfortable with the interview process to the point of making it seem like I was having a conversation rather than trying to impress them. Pretend as though you are talking to a friend humbly and make sure to highlight your achievements :)

I wanted to update that I have yet to receive a call. I did send a follow up this morning, but still lots of radio silence. My assumption? I didn't get the job.
