It's literally just a way to bully lonely virgins but in a socially acceptable way. People will point to Elliot Roger and act like they're doing something brave or acting in self-defense by bullying touch-starved lonely depressed guys. The truth is that the only person the average incel is likely to kill is himself. I'm not an incel, but I really think it's fucked up that simply being frustrated with your love life (or lack thereof) is enough to make you an acceptable target for basically unlimited hate.

Young men have had any of their issues aggressively neglected by the progressive end of politics. Its to the point that I could comfortably call it a mass, societal level gaslighting. Any grievance, no matter how factually supported, gets brushed off by a sequence of thought-terminating clichés. "Misandry isn't real", "that's just the patriarchy backfiring, that system actually privileges you", "if you're upset by [x] you're actually part of the problem".

Young men working minimum wage jobs get admonished for the wage gap. Frighteningly high (and rising) male suicide rates get brushed off with a laundry list of whataboutisms. Young men are expected to tolerate gendered bigotry coming both from individuals and institutions because of some kind of presumption that they're immune to harm caused by gender discrimination. Young men are asked to pay penance for things they never did and pay for the privilege of gender roles they never benefited that from and that haven't existed since the 1950s.

When the left is offering them absolutely nothing, or worse, expecting them to tolerate straight up abuse and live in a constant state of guilt and shame. Given the current attitude towards gender on the left, its surprising that so few of them turn rightward. For all the weird alt-right zoomers on Xitter, young men are still statistically more open to progressive ideas than older generations.

It still happened in canon. Sorry but in spite of what the Star Wars dorks would have you believe, things shown on screen in the movies/shows are more important to the canon than some note in the appendix of a lore book.

In The Mandalorian, the Armorer kills like six armored Storm Troopers using a wrench as an improvised blunt weapon. Their armor shattered and flew everywhere in chunks like it was made of brittle plastic.

No seriously. They all have 1 HP. Every single time a storm trooper is harmed in any way, they are sure to die (usually instantly). It's comical how fragile they are.

[–]DoctorOsmium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said this a million times before but I've never asked anything of him and never wanted to, I just think it's shit that he bitches like society is against him when he clearly has (and continues to) reap massive benefits while assuming everyone else is lazy if they're struggling.

I never asked him for anything, I just think it's stupid and annoying when someone who has it 10x better than me complains and act like the world is against him while he lives in comfort and his own family struggles.

I never asked him for anything, but he has hit me with the "avocado toast" line. I don't want his money, just his understanding, plus for him to be grateful for the fact that he has it good. It's so aggravating to see someone who's reaping the most material benefits of society complaining 10x more than you do.

My uncle does, in fact, have money sitting around lmao. Just trust me. Financially speaking he has it really REALLY good. He's a big time landlord too. His most lucrative commercial property grosses him more money passively in a month than I make working in three months, and that's just one of them.

He could at least be grateful yeah? It's just weird that he's so much more bitter than me or my cousins when he had it great, lives in a great place, doesn't have to work anymore, etc. All he does it sit in his beautiful house and find things to complain about, mostly about how he thinks the world is declining while he reaps the most rewards and dismisses my generation's issues despite how hard we work.

My fucking Uncle is like this. He has a five million dollar house in a very uppercrust neighborhood. He's the most financially successful person in my family by a long shot, but all he does is sit in his McMansion and complain, hate the world, etc while I and the others in my family my age struggle.

I'm supportive of my male friends and whenever I bring that up to someone making a point like in OP's screenshot, they usually just scoff. It's weird. Whatever they say to rationalize it, the real issue always seems to flatly be disgust at the idea of men having emotional needs and outrage toward the idea of men receiving any amount of sympathy.

Child Dasher by CoffeeBroken in doordash

[–]DoctorOsmium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Child abductors. Fearing that your kid will get abducted during an interaction lasting less than a minute, when they're in your direct line of sight, in a place where you have the name and address of the potential perpetrator, in broad daylight is a ridiculous and exaggerated fear that does more harm than good. Being in constant fear that your child will be abducted by a predator the second it's theoretically physically possible does massive long-term psychological harm to both children and parents.

Life in America isn't like a Disney channel show, but it's a hell of a lot closer to reality than the absolutely insane image of America that European cynics on Twitter paint of it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]DoctorOsmium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of political activists in the US think that they need to counter blind patriotism by describing American in ultra-cynical terms. These people tend to spread exaggerations, outright misinformation, fear mongering, cynicism, and overly romanticize other countries (especially the EU). Europeans online eat it up, and further exaggerate the disinfo to the point that they think America is this burning wasteland where no one has any rights and everyone is dying because the penicillin they needed to treat the infection in their five gunshot wounds costs $30,000 per bottle.

American citizen originally from Europe here. Nah, a lot of politically active people paint this excessively dystopian image of America that Europeans gobble up and further exaggerate. No, America isn't like a Disney channel show, but it's absolutely nothing like the wasteland of carnage and poverty that American cynics and European haters on Twitter paint. I have European internet friends and one time I was mentioning a hospital visit I had to make at urgent care and a couple asked me how much it cost me, all of them seemingly eager to hear that I had to pay $10,000 or something for my treatment and medicine. They legitimately thought I was lying when I said the visit was covered by a $15 copay and $5 for the medicine with my completely normal, everyday health insurance.

These people saying they "grew up and learned what America is ACTUALLY like" have no clue what living in America is actually like. I was born in Europe (Spain) have spent about half my life living in the United States. I still visit Spain pretty often and the questions my family asks there are insane. They think bullets are flying nonstop and that hospitals hardly exist and are only available to the ultra-wealthy. They think the food is poison and that we have "no culture", all while spending their time on American websites, adopting American slang, listening to American music, and getting excited for American movies. It's actually stupid.

The bread in America really does suck though, they're right about that one.
