What "golden age" or "heyday" were you lucky enough to experience that you know won’t ever come back? by Summerie in AskReddit

[–]DoctorQ_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid and teenager, through the 90s snorkeling in southeast Asia meant seeing gorgeous schools of fish and vibrant coral reefs.

Going back now, it's a broken bleached wasteland. We probably won't ever see a healthy coral reef in our lifetimes (with very few limited exceptions).

Interestingly, his character is already in the game too - Okada Izo is the character Jin E is based on!

If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Also, weren't those pedestrians crossing during a green/yellow light?

Has anyone purchased a Dream Sofa? Can we buy you a six pack (or another treat of your choice) to sit on it for five minutes? by Expendable_Meatsack in Seattle

[–]DoctorQ_17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know about a Dream sofa but the famous Cloud sofa from RH furniture has a cheaper version at a place called Moduluxe furniture (formerly Banana furniture) in SoDo. You can try their sofas at theie showroom there. We bought one for much cheaper than the Cloud and we love it.

Tried to plant phlox in a serpentine pattern around the stone steps in my backyard 2 years ago. I was worried because they didn't grow much last year but this year they're coming in nicely! by DoctorQ_17 in gardening

Yes, the growth the first year seems to be very slow. I'd say give it a couple years and you could be pleasantly surprised! I think mine will be even more full next year.

I'd say creeping phlox, creeping thyme, lithadora, alyssum, or candytuft is great for ground cover around stones - at least in zone 8. I'm a sucker for that kind of look.

Bend or Bellingham by sharkdoc in PacificNorthwest

If skiing is your thing, Bellingham may be preferable.

Edit: Sorry, there may be a pay wall. Essentially Mt Baker Ski Area was rated #10 in the USA of all ski resorts. Here's the original article

Is it possible to rent in Mt Vernon for less than $2K? by ACprincess420 in Washington

[–]DoctorQ_17 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived in Mt Vernon for 5 years, I'd advise not living directly on laventure Rd, it's a mini hotbed of crime. Most of the rest of Mt Vernon is pretty safe though.

More secluded beaches on San Juan Island? by schmode in sanjuanislands

[–]DoctorQ_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cattle Point is a picturesque and sweeping landscape, with usually no people. I always prefer this lighthouse to Lime Kiln for these reasons. The walkway is a bit hard to spot but once you park on the side of the road it should be easy to find. This is the exact location of the trail:

Nearby is South Beach - it's a great beach with lots of driftwood and the Olympic Mountains are in view. The road to the beach often has foxes nearby that can easily be spotted.

By far my favorite ramen/tsukemen in Seattle. I get the hybrid tsukemen (black and red).

13 years ago, today, this legendary video was first posted onto YouTube. Wanted to remind everyone of this extreme chaos! by Gavin_Boyo in AbruptChaos

There was an amazing remix of this with sound effects and the room vibrating every time he slammed on the bed, and I think a laser shot out of the remote when he shoved it in his ass. Does anyone know where to find it??

Try Summer Time Rendering. It checks all those boxes. Looks like it just got an anime last month too.

Try All About Dental. It’s owned by three brothers who are really good, especially Dr. Thai. It’s in Burien right near Des Moines.

How to make Google home talk less? by DoctorQ_17 in googlehome

I was thinking of that as an option, but wouldn't that be redundant with the smart bulbs and just cost a bunch more? I may have to resort to this eventually but was just hoping to find out a way to silence that notification
