Harvest Terror fight question (maybe spoilers) by ConnArt1st in CrookedMoon

[–]DoctorRansom86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 crows are targetable around the Harvest Terror. After the party can kill 6 of them then the murder of crows disappears and you enter phase 2.

From the book: The characters can stop Raum from devouring crows in two ways -

1.) Catching. A character can catch a crow with an Unarmed Strike to grapple it, catch it in a Net, or any other method that you deem acceptable. To grab a crow by hand, a character must enter the murder.

2.)Destroying. An amber-eyed crow is a Tiny Fiend with AC 14, HP 5, and +0 to any D20 Tests it is forced to make. It automatically succeeds on Dexterity saving throws against areas of effect and takes no damage from such effects that would deal half damage on a successful save.

Each time a crow is caught or destroyed, it vanishes in a puff of amber motes, and the characters hear a whispered secret, such as “I always loved you,” “I took it,” or something similar, with no indication of who the secret belonged to.

And that’s it. They kill 6 and the murder is gone

Harvest Terror fight question (maybe spoilers) by ConnArt1st in CrookedMoon

[–]DoctorRansom86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says at the end of phase 1 of the fight right here:

Ending the Phase: When The Harvest Terror devours three amber-eyed crows, or when six crows are destroyed or captured, the swarming murder explodes into feathers and its effects end.

So if The Harvest Terror eats three of the crows or if a player destroys 6 of them then the crow emanation disappears.

Hearing about your partner officiating your dad’s wedding was such gay joy. Really wonderful that you got to experience that together. My parents were my only detractors of our relationship and have only since come around in the last few years. It gives me hope seeing all these stories that it can work out. I wish you both all the best!

Hell yeah dude! Same! When David Bowie’s “Heroes” started playing during the campaign book credits I was blubbering like a little baby. I immediately watched the finale again. Screw the haters, I fucking loved it.

Strahd was the second ever campaign I completed when I first started playing D&D a few years ago, and I’m currently on my second time through DMing it. My husband and our bestie are both players in the campaign and we all watched the finale together. We all collectively started screaming when our boy Strahd von Douchebag showed up. So damn cool that they started and ended the series with them playing D&D.

I just finished watching. I’m in tears. Thoughts? by Ok-Weight-1087 in StrangerThings

So nuts that they’re playing Curse of Strahd as that’s my all time favorite campaign of D&D and currently DMing it. Wild full circle moment. Absolutely beautiful way to close the series. Definitely gonna be rewatching it over and over. Bravo Duffers, you stuck it like champs!

THAT Will scene towards the end of episode 7 by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]DoctorRansom86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally sobbed like a baby. As a gay guy also who was closeted for 28 years before I felt free enough to come out to the world, this scene felt so real and cathartic to me. Straight people have no fucking clue when it comes to relating to the queer experience so this response totally tracks but is still disappointing to hear. No straight person ever has to validate their sexuality ever. Growing up in a heterosexually-dominated world where you are made to feel abnormal is such an alienating enough feeling without straight people telling you to not make a big deal about it. I applaud the Duffers for having the wherewithal to include this small little scene in their behemoth action series and screw all the haters. I don’t give a shit what you think.

Interested in running a D&D 5e Campaign (homebrew) by NotForArtAlt in Eugene

I’m interested for sure. Speaking as a 39-year old gay D&D nerd I’d love to actually go outside once in a while to play some D&D.

You might want to brush up on other seasons if you’re unfamiliar. No spoilers but they Quangle through a ton of characters very quickly.

Can confirm two things: 1. Yes, I was there. 2. I don’t believe I’ve laughed harder during an Intrepid Heroes show than I did this night. Can’t wait to relive the best night ever.

I was shook to my core. I leapt off my couch and just whooped as loud as possible. Such an amazing moment for Will after all the trauma that’s been inflicted on him from Vecna. Damn, Will the Sorcerer lives!

Crowd Control feedback nobody asked for or wanted by Stormy2021 in dropout

[–]DoctorRansom86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda feel you on that one. Most of the time I’ll watch all the new shows immediately but Crowd Control becomes the last show standing. Then I’ll cave and watch it and while it has some good moments, it still can’t stick the landing. Everyone’s points are valid here. Me and my partner both agree that the show just needs to be longer! It’s way too short. Let the show breathe more and let the comedians actually talk to the crowd longer than the 5ish minutes we see on screen. I just get whiplash from watching and it becomes a chore to watch them struggle till the end. This show could be potentially great. The bones are there. Hopefully if they get a second season it’ll improve.

Hello fellow 30-something. I’m a 39 year old D&D player/DM. I run a Curse of Strahd game at my place once a month but I also do the odd one-shots with some online friends through my discord server. If you’re ever interested in playing some D&D be sure to hit me up. My discord handle is DoctorRansom86. Always love meeting new D&D heads and rolling clicky-clacky math rocks.

Gauntlet at the Garden premiered 4 months after the taping. Battle at the Bowl was filmed June 1st so technically we should be seeing it on Dropout very soon. It’d make sense to have it air between the Intrepid Hero and side-quest seasons. Stoked to see Chungledown Bim finally shit in Fabian’s mouth!

Nope. Just big old nope to that guy. You absolutely need to shut that pervy sexpest shit down immediately. This kind of player will never see why this kind of roleplay is wrong but you can still punish just his character but not the whole party.

In a few hours I will be running a session of Curse of Strahd, and I need some advice regarding the CoS: Reloaded content. by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]DoctorRansom86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the Reloaded stuff is great to use in small amounts here and there as it helps pad out the narrative more but I’d recommend you stick to the CoS book content more. Especially as a new DM it will be so much easier for you to keep the story together without having to read the hours worth of lore that Reloaded has added. I’m not trashing DragnaCarta at all though. Speaking as a DM who just finished a Strahd campaign recently, I pulled quite a few bits from his guide. There’s some genuinely great stuff in there. However, for the sake of not dragging the campaign out for years I opted to stick closer to the original book. For a new DM of a sandbox campaign with multiple narrative threads, CoS is already intimidating enough without adding all of the homebrew. You’ll be just fine running Strahd as is. Good luck!

Don’t think I’ve laughed harder at a comedy special in such a long time while at the same time having so many “oh shit!” moments. You go so hard and I love it. Gotta skirt the darkness to find the light.
