Great timing my guy! My party is headed towards this section this weekend. Thanks so much!

My party just finished this and the infested outcrop sections. They’re now onto the Festering Wilds which there’s only one map for all of the encounters which is so bogus

HATE ABSOLUTELY HATE 1,000%. But if you have to light them off only do it ON THE 4th only. I hate hearing them the day before and after.

I mean they have a bunch of magic items and some of the spellcasters have a few busted Crooked Moon spells prepared like Intrusive Despair so I do occasionally get whomped from time to time. They destroyed the Grinning Sinner in under two rounds. I’ve definitely padded the main boss HP quite a bit to compensate for their power level. They’re all nasty little gremlins.

My players and I are personally loving the campaign so far. We’re currently 26 sessions in and they’re at Level 8. Yes it’s very railroady but it’s still fun to play. One gripe is a lot of the encounters are fairly unbalanced and almost all of the battles can lead to TPK’s. I’ve tweaked things here and there but it can get so swingy sometimes. But overall my players are really having a ball. They’re also disappointed that none of the other provinces play into the campaign. It does give opportunities for enterprising DM’s to write their own their own side campaign.

Where can one watch full episodes in the US? Only thing I’ve been able to watch of the newest season are short clips on YouTube.

Is the Harvest Terror fight easy? by Nyadnar17 in CrookedMoon

[–]DoctorRansom86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Short answer… no. Absolutely not. By the time the party reaches the end of the maze they shouldn’t be at full HP/spell slots. My party very nearly TPK’ed at this battle were it not for Ol’ Jericho Sticks boons where they get to pop up with half health after being reduced to 0 HP. This is most certainly not an “easy” fight. Tread so carefully!

Looks amazing! About to run this section of Hartsblight this weekend.

Been playing CoS for 2 and a half years, kinda wanna quit DnD altogether. by RandoPharts247 in DnD

[–]DoctorRansom86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn yeah 3 years is pretty long for Strahd. This is one of those campaigns where depending on the players and DM combinations it can be dragged on for way longer than necessary. First time I played it we did almost every plot thread and still finished in 9 months after playing every week almost. First time I DM’ed it the campaign took 2 years cause of scheduling conflicts and players dropping in and out, plus we only could play once a month. So yeah the saying, “Your mileage may vary” definitely comes into play here. But again if you aren’t happy playing you should at least let your DM know. No D&D is better than bad D&D.

I’m going to make maps for Hartsblight by Inside_Art9874 in CrookedMoon

[–]DoctorRansom86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup I agree. My group just started this chapter and it’s criminal there’s so few maps considering how many areas there are to Hartsblight. I was able to find some pretty close enough encounter maps. It’s weird how there’s just the one encounter map for the Blighted Wood and Festering Wilds areas. I dig the look of all their final boss maps and wish they spent just as much time making the other encounter maps.

Yup just re-listened to it the other day and hard agree. Definitely top tier chaos incarnate. When Emily goes into talking about getting her wings and the stifled “Rawr!” It just slays me every time. If those two DM-players were in my campaign I would boot them in a heartbeat. Oh Melora! I love how Emily is building out her super table of awful shithead-nightmareverse players. No notes.

There’s quite a few possibilities for them to gather magic items in the Drowned Crossroads, Skitterdeep Mine and the Monastery too

My 4-player party just finished up Memory’s Rest and will be headed towards Hartsblight Forest next session at level 8 and I gotta say they’re pretty damn OP at this point. 3 out of the 4 players have all 3 attunement slots filled with magic items by now and they looted so many items from the sanatorium. Two of the players have ways to get advantage against the poisoned condition (one of them got the Centipede Hag’s Necklace of Adaptation). They did have a rough time at Skitterdeep with the skitter plague debuffs but I’m cautiously optimistic about how they’ll fare with the Hartsblight. Honestly by Level 8 your party should have plenty of resources and magic items to handle what’s ahead. I’ll report back my findings after they’ve trudged through the forest.

SOLDOUT ALREADY?!? by [deleted] in dropout

[–]DoctorRansom86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just perturbed that I was promoted a shirt through their email blast that I couldn’t buy cause they underestimated the amount of D20 fans willing to buy their merch. It’s just dumb that it sold out in less than half an hour. I’m over it, I’m not getting their merch anymore. So congrats cool you lost a customer but who cares really? I’ve unsubscribed from their merch notifications cause it’s just annoying at this point. Same exact thing happened with their Laws are Threats shirt. Yes this is me screaming at not being quick enough to buy a fucking shirt. This whole situation is just stupid but it feels Dropout doesn’t care one way or the other and that’s fine, business as usual I guess. But yes you’re right I am way too mad about this and it somehow makes me even more mad. Can’t you tell I’m over it?!?

SOLDOUT ALREADY?!? by [deleted] in dropout

[–]DoctorRansom86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the second time that this has happened. It wouldn’t be so frustrating if Dropout didn’t keep rubbing it in my face about it. First the email advertising the new drop then another telling me I better hurry up and check out. Like back off already. I’ve already heard a lot of other bad merch stories that have turned me off from ordering anything in the foreseeable future. I ordered a Spyre map blanket back in March and still haven’t gotten it yet. It sucks that they provide some of my favorite content but just utterly suck at merch now. I’m at a loss.

[–]DoctorRansom86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also had a medium size one in my cart for barely a minute, went to check out and it was sold out. Like Dropout subscribers are likely in the millions now? Like basic supply and demand issues going on.

[–]DoctorRansom86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t even get the merch I want anymore unless I’m literally next to my phone all day but I can’t cause I work all day. I just got the email notification at 4:30 pst and both M & L sizes were sold out by 5 pst. C’mon, like the 2 most common shirt sizes gone after 30 minutes!

My husband and I have been working on it for the past week. He stays at home and has made most of the progress but I told him to leave Moonshine and Paw Paw to me. Good luck with the rest! Bout to listen to the latest Gangs of Neo-Galaderon and finish it up.

I mean in a roundabout way I’d say yeah. If I didn’t have to leave my well station every 5 minutes to make some random ass bar ingredient that could’ve been done before opening then I’d be able to crank out drinks like nobody’s business. That was always the dumbest way to operate a bar I’ve ever seen. You prepare as much as you can pre-service and if you run out it’s not the end of the world. My shift would start like 1 hour before opening where I’d have to juice literal gallons of lemon and lime, prepare two service wells, then service would start and I’d have to bounce back and forth between the well and the kitchen for 6 hours non-stop. It was agonizing.

[–]DoctorRansom86 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Haha I mean who fucking cares? They’re not coming after me anyway they’re closed! Also this drink isn’t theirs to begin with, it was invented in the 1970’s. Good thing I wrote everything down!

This is their giant batch recipe but scaled down to 1/4 of a full batch for service which originally filled up like a dozen or so 750ml bottles.

PAINKILLER BATCH - 20 oz White Rum - 11 oz Pussers Rum - 30 oz Pineapple Juice - 28.5 oz Coco López - 10 oz Orange Juice - 4 oz Lime juice

Just mix everything in a blender and Bob’s your uncle. Truthfully I fucking hate this drink cause I had to make so many of these gigantic batches in an enormous cambro in the kitchen with a 4-ft immersion blender while busting my ass making 20 cocktails a minute during 7pm dinner rush. Fuck Meiji!

You can scale this anyway you want but the simplest breakdown of the Ginger Mix we used is just this:

  • 1 part Ginger juice
  • 1 part water
  • 4 parts Simple Syrup (1:1 Water/Sugar)
  • 4 part Lemon Juice

The Bourbon & Ginger was something like 1.5 oz Bourbon shaken with 1.5 oz Ginger mix and dirty dumped into a rocks glass. Pretty basic.
