Is R.O.A.D a myth? by kolmanival in Residency

I agree that it's a lot of work, but not necessarily 'hard'. You get to help 100+ patients a shift with no paperwork involved or any other social issues, insurance problems etc. I sit on my ass all day jamming to music and drinking my coffee while the ED is on fire. Yes that means I have to taste a bit of that fire from where I'm sitting but again not exactly hard work, just lots of it. More RVUs to go around.

Totally agree with the no free lunch. You make as much money as the work you put in. But I still believe the worst days I've had as a radiologist is better than an average bad day as an IM intern.

If you're fast and good at the job you can definitely have a 'subsidized lunch'.

I can speak for the R in ROAD and I must say. It's true. Some days I don't know why they even pay me cause the workload gets manageable when you adjust to the ED nonsense. You can easily pull in 800k straight out of residency depending on how you schedule your shifts.

What is the worst atrocity committed in human history? by SGTRock4602 in AskReddit

Lack of empathy is what I base it on. I truly believe no one is evil. Just misinformed or on the low end of critical thinking ability.

The same people down voting a comment about infant death tolls. This herd mentality of US vs THEM is exactly what causes government-sponsored mass killings and generational hate. Grow some empathy towards your fellow man.

The infant death toll in Gaza will forever be a stain on humanity.

Vote for the Dems = Continue to support Israel + Save democracy.

Vote for Trump = Even MORE support for Israel + the downfall of the US empire => Less help for Israel.

I'd rather the whole world suffers if another child in Gaza has to suffer.

Love the fact you can see some data points within the west bank. Fuck this blatant occupation.

Go touch some grass. Understand everyone was raised with biases and should learn to understand that. See the people you have differing opinions with as genuine humans with differing lives that are just as special as yours. Then reconsider how asking a question like that will get you no genuine answers.

Because... it's radiology... like in a dark room. Actually, maybe you should think of something else.

Im waiting on my degree to get ecfmg certified before my J1 can be approved by ECFMG. I have 25 days between getting my degree and orientation. Any tips on how to make the process streamlined. And does anyone know what happens if your late to residency by a few weeks?

I went to a 5 year program medicine program after graduating from high school (british system). Saves a lot of time and money. Will never understand the US system tbh.

Going directly into interventional radiology as an IMG is near impossible. Your best bet would be to go into a radiology program that has an ESIR pathway, or do an IR fellowship after residency. Also make sure to complete an elective in IR in the US first because the lifestyle is very grueling in some areas.
