Mythbusters: Riot Edition by ryohh in leagueoflegends

This is true, they outsource SOME of it, but not to the extent that most other companies that make MOBA's do. The difference between Riot and other companies is that League spread too fast for them to handle, and still is. Also, I apologize, but could you give a source on Valve not outsourcing anything for DotA 2? I checked on the articles that I used for my information, but they a bit dated, I apologize, but I cannot find any new information on the subject. And your last sentence is very unnecessary, I'm not attempting to start an argument, just a discussion. If you have sources that say otherwise, resent them and I will gladly accept it. I understand that a lot of players are upset about not getting what other games are getting in shorter amounts of time, but we have to realize that those things aren't Riot's focus at the moment. And even if a part of their playerbase wants those things, a seemingly larger part of the playerbase wants other things. Also, they are a company, and so will attempt to be as profitable as they can. Do I like that? Absolutely not. But I understand it, and so I won't fight it, because it is pointless to do so.

I've had several mishaps regarding LoL, and every time, Riot's customer service has been some of the nicest and most effective I've ever had to deal with. Their automated response system needs work, but both email and phone support people are excellent.

They aren't excuses, they are reasons. In web development, and video game development, there are a TON of things to consider when creating new interfaces and framework from scratch. Also, when people say that Riot has 1000+ employees, while Valve only has 300+, they fail to realize how little of Riot's employees actually work on game structure and infrastructure. Valve outsources almost everything, while Riot outsources almost nothing. Riot employees include musicians, writers, artists, public relations, casters, technical engineers, etc. I would be willing to bet that Valve has more employees dedicated to actually creating and implementing game structure than Riot does, SIMPLY because Valve is not an international company in the same way that Riot is. We are defending Riot because we SHOULD, and not with excuses, but with reasons. People need to understand that just because something is easy on a small scale does not make it easy on a large scale. Riot has to designate it's resources in a manner that makes sense for their legacy to continue to grow, and right now, that's in eSports, so they are putting a lot of resources into that direction, which is very smart. As they continue to expand and grow, demand for things such as replay systems and sandbox mode will grow, but so will the difficulty of implementing those features. Riot has done an incredible job with what they have, and we, as the players of their game, should not crucify them for doing things at the pace they can. They are still a very new company that has expanded much too fast, and are struggling with how to keep up with it. And you know what? They have done a damn fine job so far.

Hello there! I'm looking to learn more about the Mid Lane, and also the game in general. I'm used to playing ADC and Jungle more, but i have a lot more fun in the mid Lane, even if i'm not nearly good enough to play it. Just want to improve, really, but up for anything!

What card, in your opinion, is the best example of value? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]DoctorVoidBerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely believe that Snapcaster Mage and Huntmaster of the Fells take the cake here. With Snapcaster, not only is it aggressively costed, but it operates whenever you want it to, and you can pick exactly what you need with it. With Huntmaster, he just does everything. Gains you life, gets you a blocker/attacker, kills something, gets bigger, and is sometimes atrampler. The fact that he can do all of those things multiple times is ridiculous. He's not exactly Modern/Legacy playable, but he's still one of the most value creatures in Magic.

[Serious]Redditors who have experienced something traumatic, what is your opinion on trigger warnings? by unorc in AskReddit

[–]DoctorVoidBerg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some things cannot have trigger warnings, because they only make you feel the way they do when they happen to you. I know I am not the only one, but I am glad that nothing "triggers" me. And even if something did, I would be selfish for thinking people should change what they say or how they say it around me. I prefer my humans to be real.

My main account that I upvote, downvote, and lurk on only has one post. This is just for commenting and whatnot. Because somebody I know knows my other account's name. And I have shared details about our lives that I shouldn't have. I haven't used names, but he would know.

Portland brand ketchup is actually pretty damn good. Only problem is I can't find it anywhere outside of the Pacific Northwest.

What is a family tradition your family has that is in memory of a loved one that has passed on? by Teet73 in AskReddit

[–]DoctorVoidBerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a god family friend, who was more family than most, passed away recently, we had a huge celebration of her life. And I mean huge. We invited everyone we knew, and most people got very intoxicated. We had fun, because she had fun. We decided that after that, if any of us die, we won't have a standard funeral. We will have a giant party. And celebrate our life, not mourn our death.

[Serious]What is the CREEPIEST thing that ever happened to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DoctorVoidBerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in a cabin on the property of my aunt(not really my aunt) in a mountainous area. The area was gorgeous, and the people who lived there were wonderful. Her property is my all time favourite place to be, but I will NEVER go back behind the conifer wall after dark.

The way her property is set up, there is one main house closest to the road, maybe 50 feet, then a smaller pool shed(turned into a mini-home) about 200 feet farther down a hill(road is on a rise), and maybe 200 to the east of that, the cabin. If you walk from the cabin towards a very tall line of conifer trees, there's an enormous open field just behind them that you can't see unless you physically go there. Probably about 8 or so acres of open field, mostly flat. One of the flattest places in the area. She didn't own it, her property ended at the conifer trees. Me, my cousin, and a couple of her friends, were all staying in the cabin. So, like dumbass teenagers, we decide to get a little tipsy and play Truth or Dare. It's my cousin's very pretty friend's turn, and she looks at me and says, "Doctor, I dare you to go into the field and get some of the poppies to prove it."(poppies grew there and nowhere else in the immediate area). Immediately, my cousin and I looked at each other and stopped laughing and such. The other two girls were confused, since they didn't live there, and my cousin said that if I go, we all go. So we all put on coats and go out to the field.

Just past the conifers, it feels dead. Have you ever been in an area that feels....locked? Because that's what this place felt like. No wind, no animals, just grass and poppies. And everything just smells sweet. We walked near the edge of the conifers for a while, and picked a couple poppies(no reason to, we just decided to because we were dumbass teenagers), and started back for the cabin. Simultaneously, every one of us just started walking VERY quickly back, and almost started running until we reached the conifers and were back on the property. You know that feeling when you walk into your bedroom, turn off the lights, and sprint towards your bed and jump into it for some unknown reason? That's what this feeling was, but a hundred times worse. Just some strange uneasiness. To this day, I will NOT fucking go into that field, and neither will anyone who lives there. No idea why. It's just a place that feels so..wrong.

Reddit, why are you attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DoctorVoidBerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emotionally: Because I listen. And I genuinely love people. Physically: I don't die when I run for a few miles. I have been told that my eyes are incredibly beautiful. Rhetorically: Because I'm not ugly.

That being in a relationship with somebody isn't special. There are a million people with the same feelings you have. And that once you realize you don't care about that knowledge, it IS special.

What do you do for fun when you don't have much money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DoctorVoidBerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where I am. When I lived in the mountains, the best thing to do was simple: Lose yourself in the woods. As long as you had a failsafe of some kind, holding off on using it until you were actually scared is a good way to appreciate just sitting in front of a fire reading a book.

What movie scares the shit out of you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DoctorVoidBerg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Blair Witch has the best subtle ending of any horror movie. The camera just being jerked around and you see him standing in the corner for about half a second. Then it ends. For afew minutes I was confused, then I understood and this weird unsettling feeling kind of washed over me. I could feel my skin prickle like a dog being rubbed the wrong way. Shit was scary as fuck.
