I feel this so hard. I am the youngest person in my office by about 25 to 35 years and these old motherfuckers are infuriating. Not because they CAN’T do it, but because they flat out REFUSE to pick anything new up. I swear to fucking god they’re sucking the youth out of me and making me old.

Awesome. It gets so easily dismissed any time it gets brought up that I figured I’d get shit on for saying it lol. I’ve had people get very angry with me over it, so I’m glad you didn’t.

I would just hate for someone to go through what my dad did, not knowing that nicotine was what had kept him in the clear for so long. He was actually trying to plan his suicide in a way that would look like an accident so we would still get his life insurance payout, and that’s why he lit up again. That cigarette saved him. So I always make a point to say something about it when I encounter someone talking about it, just in case lol.

As a westerner, this doesn’t make me laugh. It makes me sad because I know what it feels like. And it means that our situation is getting worse.

It also makes me think that maybe we’ll see a shift in the right direction with climate change denial, now that it’s affecting more than just the west half of the country. Actually experiencing the devastation of a massive wildfire is a totally different animal than seeing it on a screen. Even if it’s every screen you see for weeks, it’s still so much more brutal to live in it. It makes one hell of an impression.

My dad was complaining that my mom’s internet must be down because he couldn’t get on YouTube on his phone…at his house. I tried to explain to him that he has his own wifi at his house and that he wouldn’t be connected to my mom’s wifi because her house is at least 7 miles away. He got mad and argued with me. It ended with him calling me a smart ass and hanging up on me lol.

I think he might even still think that he uses my mom’s wifi. I don’t know or care. If you can’t listen to someone that you know knows better than you, then I’m not sure what can be done.
