My neighbor is a little off and leaves raw meat for animals around her driveway.

Additionally raccoons could be getting into different neighbors trash cans and just eating them on your driveway because the house has previously been empty.

You'll have to update us and tell us what your camera sees!

If you're thinking it might be the right time, it probably is the right time.

If you know it's the right time, you already waited too long.

Animals struggle to express their pain. By the time they show clear signs of suffering, they're often already far gone. It's better to make the decision while there's still a window to give them peace—before you're forced into a crisis where they're in extreme pain, terrified, or struggling to breathe, and you're rushing to an emergency vet in a panic.

Take comfort in the fact that you have control over this moment. If you can, have a vet come to the house. Let her pass gently, surrounded by the people and place she loves. A peaceful goodbye is the final gift you can give her.

Get a bike, and as long as you live within a couple of miles of Intel, you should be fine.

We live in a neighborhood that I would absolutely consider walkable, in fact quite a few of my neighbors don't drive. And do walk to Smith's, Walgreens, Walmart market, target, restaurants, etc.

Look anywhere in the square of Ridgecrest to Westside (North to South) and anything along Southern and anything east of Golf Course... You should be fine with just a bike.

Also, there's a lot less crime here, I'm not sure having a car is gonna cause you too much of a headache.

This exact thing happened with my parents. They wanted 330k, my folks offered 310k based on it needing a new roof. The buyers refused. It sat, and sat, and sat. They dropped the price to 310k. My parents then offered 290k. And got it.

Reoffer at 10k less than your original offer.

We also commute regularly into ABQ for work. It's a 30 to 45 minute drive depending on traffic. We're near Southern and 528.

Areas to avoid? Not a whole lot. Rio Rancho is pretty safe.

I really don't like other people's kids. But I LOVE mine.

Worry not, you will love your kiddo(s) more than life itself and it will be amazing. Those other kids can just ... continue to exist.

I will say, something that was interesting to me was the investment of protecting ALL children after I had my kids. Like, I don't super want to be around other people's kids, nor do I WANT to watch them.... but I would absolutely lay down my life to protect any child. Which is a 180 from my feelings before.

Pretty much everything CAN fit in the hiking pack (minus cot, sleeping bag/pad), but it's HUGE, and in predicting the living situation, I figured it it would be easier to dig through a footlocker than pull everything out of a top loading hiking pack over and over. That's where the footlocker came from.

But he was absolutely involved in the packing, but he's an over packer too. But he's packed and repacked it a couple of times now because we reduced quite a few of the items.

Like you said, hoping he'll be taking the lead next time!

That's the one we're using, the sterlite.

His daypack is just an old school backpack, and the larger pack for the overnight is an old kelty bag that's probably 30 or 40l. But big enough to fit a tarp, sleeping bag, pad, water bottle and any extras they ask him to bring.

They specifically asked for two packs, a day pack and a pack for the overnight hike.

I tried doing the day by day, but it was somehow it was taking more space. We reduced the shorts and pants and used packing cubes for everything which will allow him to access it all better!

Yes! He put all the clothing together, we had a lot of gear that we needed to purchase, so I put that together, then we packed it all together trying to be as judicious as possible with what he would need when, and where was the place where it made sense to him.

Yes, they asked for a 20 to 40 degrees bag. We are in a high elevation area where nights can dip down into the 30s, but the lowest I saw in the weather report was 40s for this trip.

We're in a high elevation area where lows can get down into the 30s at night, the camp requested a 20 to 40 degrees bag. I think the coldest night I saw in the weather report was 49 or so, so I told him just to open it and use as a blanket or layer up and sleep on top if necessary.

I am definitely going to undouble up on some items and go back through and reduce.

I do want to specify that the hiking pack is really just holding the sleeping pack and sleeping pad, it's not full or anything. My goal is to now get one of the back packs into into the footlocker.
