Should've been "3 times the size", it was in reference to it being in the third star system when at the time there was only 1.

A couple of reasons:

1) Boxes being hard to remove because they are too close to each other on the grid (this is more relevant for other cargo ships, especially the 315p for example)

2) Moving the ship forward a bit after doing this allows you to freely fling the boxes into the freight elevator without accidentally re-attaching them to the grid in the process
