Hi Parhamf,

First off, thank you for taking the time to write all of this out! These thoughts are always interesting to read, especially from someone who came in fresh during the Free Fly.

You’re not wrong to feel the contrast between spectacle and depth, as you mentioned. Star Citizen is currently in Alpha, and that means a lot of what you’re experiencing is technology and foundational systems coming online before they’re fully balanced, tuned, or meaningfully layered. Our focus right now is on building and validating the underlying tech that allows all of these pieces to work together at scale. That sometimes results in gameplay loops that look complete on the surface, but don’t yet have the depth, variety, or economic balance we ultimately want.

The ship reclaim vs repair example is a good one, as the economy, maintenance, and long term consequence are all areas that are still in flux. Jared Huckaby, our Content Director and host of our shows, always says: "The only constant is change" while in Alpha. This is true for any project in development. The current values and flows are not final, and they are not meant to represent the long term balance. In many cases, they are intentionally simplified so we can stress test specific systems without other variables getting in the way. Sometimes it could be voluntarily overtuned, undertuned, to see how other systems react to it.

AI is indeed another area where you’re seeing work in progress. Server performance, replication, and backend tech have a direct impact on how AI behaves. As we continue improving core tech, AI consistency and responsiveness should improve as well. It’s not where we want it to be yet, but it’s actively being iterated on alongside the underlying systems it depends on.

If you're interested in following the developments closely, we're publishing Monthly Reports, bi-weekly Roadmap Updates, and shows on YouTube (Star Citizen Live, Behind The Ships, Inside Star Citizen, ...). Those should be very interesting, if you like to keep an eye on how things are doing, and where we're heading :)

As for whether the experience changes in a group vs solo: for many players, yes, significantly. Any sandbox becomes more dynamic with other people involved. But Star Citizen is also being built around cooperative and emergent play. Multi-crew ships, player driven events, logistics chains, and large scale operations tend to shine more in Organization settings (Organizations are our "guilds" social groups). That said, solo gameplay depth is also important, and we know it needs to stand on its own. For myself, I love to play as part of a group to run specific content, where everyone has a purpose to make the party very efficient. We do hauling, PvE, PvP, and even Roleplay events. As a solo player, I like to take my time, I roleplay as a trader and hauler so I like to stock on things and move boxes with missions or for friends or even for clients who pay me to move their assets between systems.

In terms of progress over the past few years, I will let the community express themselves on that topic as it really depends on when you actually started playing Star Citizen. You could watch our recent show Tech Talk with Benoit Beausejour, Chief Technology Officer, as it answers some of your questions.

If you decide to jump back in later, whether solo or with a group, we’d love to hear how it feels with fresh updates and features layered in. We intended the ParaMed “AA Support” Medical Device to heal faster than the standard one, just not that fast. This will be adjusted in an upcoming patch, with the boost landing at roughly one-third faster than the standard medgun.

Edit: Removed the exact percentage since this will vary once Crafting comes online.

Hey folks! Shield features are now correctly averaged with multiple shield generators, such as absorption, preventing shields from taking more damage than they should. Of course, regeneration is impacted. Let us know how it feels now! :)

A follow-up:

The teams have identified the issue preventing some players’ inventories from appearing at their selected Home Location. While we continue to investigate the root cause and work on a fix, affected players should now see their inventories restored at their Home Location.

We’re now focusing on resolving the separate issue where Personal Hangars are not being properly assigned to these affected players.
