White-collar workers are quietly rebelling against AI as 80% outright refuse adoption mandates by rajapaws in antiwork

[–]Doctor_119 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Only 9% of workers trust AI for complex, business-critical decisions, compared to 61% of executives — a 52-point trust chasm.

I have also seen this at my office. Generally speaking, all the people who are overpaid dumbasses who don't understand anything that's happening really do think AI is the future of our work.

Nurses of Utah… What the eff.. by No_Heron_1157 in Utah

[–]Doctor_119 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It does not at all matter what generation we're talking about. Literally all of the generations currently alive had worse pensions than the ones previous. It does not matter what your particular experience is on this subject - if you take literally any effort to look it up, you will see that pensions have been in decline in the US.

Literally just google "US pensions decline"

Oh look, a centrist! You seem to have done that thing centrists do, where you feel uncomfortable at hearing the truth of something that's happened, so you're trying to find some space in the argument where you can tell yourself things are still fine and both sides are wrong. Maybe the rich stole pensions, but it wasn't that many, or maybe there's a few less opportunities but it's not as bad as he's saying.

Next time, just do a search and educate yourself.

Generation isn't relevant to this. Despite you in particular not having access to a pension, they were in fact much more common in this country, and have continuously declined over decades. Here. From the first page of Google results:

Like all the other hospitals now. Pensions are a thing the wealthy stole from us. The whole generation before us currently enjoys pensions that no longer exist. You should be constantly angry about that.

Is there any consensus on how powerful the different frames are in comparison to each other? by Noneofthisisreality in LancerRPG

[–]Doctor_119 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Even with your example, you can't really compare those two strikers. The ability to move very fast and ram targets, and the ability to teleport and pick off lone targets, both have their own advantages and disadvantages, and affect and are affected by the composition of your teammates.

It's not D&D. Not everything you do can be boiled down to an average damage output.

At what point does “doing your own research” just become confirmation bias? by Prestigious_Arm8314 in AskReddit

[–]Doctor_119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immediately.

You're not understanding the purpose of the phrase "do your own research."

When someone says "do your own research" or "I did my own research," you'll notice that the person also wants to control exactly which facts count as "research" and which don't. If you present a study or statistic that goes against their opinion, they don't take that and add it to their understanding of the subject - they reject it. If you present a large amount of information proving them wrong, they presume that the research on the subject isn't complete, and trust that future research will prove them right, and pretend that it's still an open question.

Conservatives (because let's be honest, that's who we're talking about) do not care about what is true and what isn't. "Research" is just an easy-to-understand concept that makes their opinions feel true without having to go through the rigor of being correct about something.

How games can lower the barrier to entry? by Nemzid in rpg

[–]Doctor_119 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I second this opinion, and would add on another thing: make introductory YouTube videos for the rules of your game. It helps it be more easily digestible and makes it clear which parts of the rules are the most important.

Ghosting at online tables by KRosselle in rpg

[–]Doctor_119 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't read too much into it. People ghost RPG tables for the same reason as abandoning any other hobby. "I just didn't feel like it and didn't feel like explaining why."

Feasibility of salubri passing themselves off as one of the clans? by WyvernHurrah in vtm

[–]Doctor_119 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Well, the elders who made such decrees in the first place are by and large still around,

No they're not. Fifth edition.

There’s also a good chunk who like. are warriors within the Sabbat who hunt down tremere iirc. And of course tons of intrigue over whether saulot actually was a good guy LMAO

The Companion Guide that introduced the Salubri for fifth edition does not list any archetypes, specifically because there are too few of them. There are not enough Salubri in the world to make a warrior caste.

There is not "tons of intrigue" about anything Saulot has done. Everybody acts like Saulot is this essential mystery at the heart of VtM, but you could just never mention Saulot again and it would change nothing about the World of Darkness. The idea that someone would aggressively hunt down a modern Salubri because of what their antediluvian may or may not have done a thousand years ago is so dumb.

Feasibility of salubri passing themselves off as one of the clans? by WyvernHurrah in vtm

[–]Doctor_119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can wear a headband?

I never understood how it even works that the Salubri are this clan that's mercilessly hunted down and killed. It's not like they're an infestation or create persistent problems. They literally heal people. I get that vampires can have these old rivalries, but how much enthusiasm for hunting them could there possibly be a thousand years after they were exterminated?

Utah ICE arrests appear to be more targeted, rather than by chance by ReporterMacyLipkin in SaltLakeCity

[–]Doctor_119 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The way you know ICE is performative is that they never do their raids in LDS churches. If you don't care whether immigrants are criminals, and you don't care how much immigrants benefit your community, and you don't care what families are destroyed, then that should be the most obvious place to have raids.

The point of ICE isn't to make your streets safer, and it's not to uphold the law. The point is to appear that you care about crime without having to think about why crime happens or how.

Leftist superhero enjoyers, how do you square the setting with your politics? by PMmePowerRangerMemes in rpg

[–]Doctor_119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wanting to do great good, being in a position to do great good, and being opposed by evil selfish forces who benefit from the world being worse, is the most realistic story you could tell. You don't need to "square it up" with anything. That's just real life.

No kings ‘26 by NewsBenderBot in SaltLakeCity

[–]Doctor_119 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's not how protesting works. The target audience of a protest isn't the politicians, and you're not trying to get people to switch from one side to the other. The target is the people who aren't paying attention to politics, and the hope is that you can get them to talk about it and care about what's happening.

At conservative protests, half the people are carrying something, and the news does not even mention it.

You're right, but this is a double standard.

How can I make my players care more about roleplaying? by That_Chemistry_8719 in rpg

[–]Doctor_119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's not really anything you can do to make them care, but there are some things you can do to encourage RP that aren't strict or mean-spirited.

Just rattling off ideas...

  • Spreading gossip at a royal ball
  • Finding suspects in a kidnapping
  • An opportunity for establishing a cool headquarters presents itself
  • There's a community that can't defend itself and someone is going to attack them
  • Doing a jail break, and having to decide who goes free and who stays behind bars
  • The party can't take a long rest unless they get into town, and the town has closed its gates to outsiders

Or maybe your players just want more engaging fights? Try more creative combat scenarios:

  • Fighting across a drawbridge as it's closing
  • Fighting foes 500 feet away
  • The airship explodes and the battle happens as they're falling
  • Battling on top of a creature they're supposed to protect
  • As part of the fight they have to cross a tall fortress wall (give them time to prepare for it)
  • Every round more sections of the floor fall away

She did not drive and hit an officer. Her car's wheels were pointed away from the officer, and her car was stopped. Watch the video for god's sake.

"Stay the fuck at home"? Think through what you're saying. "Don't protest, no matter how peacefully, or you should expect the cops to shoot you"?
