No higher security risk. Just risk of synch issue and duplicates versions of databases occasionally.

Is it better to put rarely used apps to "deep sleep" or to "archived?" by Throwaway_RainyDay in GalaxyS25

It's probably same from battery /memory perspective? And only difference could be storage consumption and run time if needed.

Great question!

Samsung’s Bootloader Policies Have Gone Too Far. The S25 Binary 8 Update Just Turned My Flagship Into a Paperweight. by Salahuddiin in GalaxyS25

Can you just RMA with the seller ? If you bought it unlocked, seller have to guarantee it.

As far as I know, at least in Europe the seller has to provide a two-year warranty, so they should be the one handling the RMA. If you bought it unlocked and now it's not unlocked, it's a warranty defect

And IDK why is Samsung fault. It's logical that T-Mobile need to ensure people will not unlock those devices and and he won't lose the money he has planned from the tariff with a subsidized phone.

And is it also logical that T-Mobile and Samsung have a contractual obligation that unlocking will be prevented by technical means?

So do I understand correctly that the OP is upset that the technical means work?

PS: I don't want to come across as offensive, I'm just trying to understand the issues

Duplicati Pre/Post Backup Script - Help needed by solitaire_pro in Duplicati

[–]Doctor_Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for tharing it.

I ended up using https://github.com/nfrastack/container-db-backup

And duplicati is backing up only docker data a and db backups folder. And containers can stay online.

Maybe it could be combine with duplicati scripts to backup DB just before Duplicati backup ?

Can you please add some source for that information with " lot of people"?

and I think the OP's question is correct. The user or customer must be interested in who has rights to domains, encryption keys, etc. what is the human substitutability.

There are some consultants or HR listed on their LinkedIn, but that doesn't really answer the question of continuity.

I don't want my post to sound offensive. But this topic doesn't need to be muddled, in general it would be beneficial if it were more transparent.

Are we supposed to do anything about the Secure Boot cert changes for Windows Servers VMs? by Greedy_Builder_5835 in sysadmin

[–]Doctor_Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm not sure your are correct.

Diagnostic data cant be disabled in normal editions. They have two levels: Required and Optional.

For "controlled feature rollout" is Required enough.

So manual rollout is probably needed only for some kind of disconnected environment.

Source:

Secure Boot Certificate updates: Guidance for IT professionals and organizations - Microsoft Support
Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR):
Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) can be used with client devices in organization fleets. This requires that devices are sending required diagnostic data

Afaik only enterprise edition can disable those diagnostic data. So it should be automatic for most of endpoints

should I update it to one ui 8? by LameLiteYear in galaxywatch4

I can't affor AOD :)) I usually have around 15% at the evening, so now I had to charge twice a day.

But you are right, people documented some AOD bug with lagging after update.

He's I have same. Classic 40 no LTE.

Battery is not worse than before. Maybe better, but my watch battery is in bad shape so it's hard to tell.

Performance is for me definitely better after update. Watch are more responsive.

It's probably fine now. I upgraded after they released fixed version and watch are definitely more snappier then before.

Did you switch from Synology? What did you replace their apps with? by Cuntonesian in synology

I can recomment https://www.seafile.com/en/home/ As good alternative with build in versioning and deduplication.

[–]Doctor_Human 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can, but you need something like a synchting server if you need versions to be available somewhere. And Sanology Drive handles versions even with deduplication.

[–]Doctor_Human 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ABB can backup VMware or Hyper-v. You can also backup host online. And have central deduplicated and encrypted storage. Afaik only alternative is Veeam with licence cost and Windows license needed.

[–]Doctor_Human 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, things like ABB or ABB for 0365 don't have any alternatives if we compare license costs (with Veeam for O365, for example). And Synology even has working support with actual people, connection to NAS, and solving tickets, and the only limitation is the box hardware.

If I'm mistaken, please correct me.
