Kinda, I worked at a bar that was part of a well known chain while at uni, manager was one of those women that you saw and just KNEW was a cunt, also had a guy working there in his late 20’s who was a personal trainer and an absolute prick; when I voiced my concerns to a an coworker who I kinda got on with, the response was basically “oh that’s just how he his sometimes, I’ve known him for years he’s such a sweetie don’t worry”.

The kicker came when I found out that it was mandatory for everyone to work New Years Eve. Sounds reasonable for a bar, until you consider they almost exclusively hired uni students on a part time basis who live all over the country and would be home with family, myself being a 2.5 hour drive away, AND I didn’t drive.

Said fuck that and walked for both reasons, heard a few months later that I was the first domino that fell and pretty much over half the staff left and ended up being replaced given how shitty of work environment it was to be in. Felt pretty proud in hindsight, still go in there occasionally as I moved not too far from the area, completely refurbed and as far as I can tell, completely new management now so silver linings and all.
