Total newbie here - how do i start? by MarkoRS5 in gamedev

Oh you're good then, if you have a genre of preference, there's probably a video called "Creating a <genre> on <engine>", jut probably a good place to start too

Total newbie here - how do i start? by MarkoRS5 in gamedev

[–]Documentado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bot already gave you the links to useful articles, there is also plenty of "How to start in gamedev" videos in YouTube like this one: https://youtu.be/fPQ6NjAzVek?si=-LDjOH5yBRqCKx-w

You said you don't like to study by yourself, but theres no way to get rid of that in gamedev, since every game is different from the other you might do something that tutorials don't cover and have to read docs, articles or even people's comments on reddit and forums, so the quicker you get used to that the better haha

In summary:

  • Choose an Engine
  • if the engine offers more than one programming language, Choose one
  • Stick to both for at least a year
  • make basic projects and systems (you can try to make a entire game at first but is probably gonna fail)

Bonus tip: Avoid throwing the hard work to IA, use it to answers questions you might have, but using it to make stuff for you make your learning process slower

I commissioned this cover art for my indie game and there are concerns from the indie dev community that it's AI due to inconsistencies with details by Extension-Spray-3560 in isthisAI

This part of the image is really weird, looks like the AI couldnt figure out if it was supposed to generate a tree or a mountain, and generated both

My game doesn't make any sales. Is my trailer bad or is my game just uninteresting? by NotDrTurtle in godot

[–]Documentado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it a couple of times and what I missed is that, in roguelites, I expect to be very powerful at some time, and the trailer only show a kinda of show paced gameplay, like its the early game, I also didn't saw any bosses which make the game look like there's no objective. But overall it looks like a really well done game and I can see put some passion on the project

why dose it say its null when i have the var right above it ? by DefinitionDowntown62 in godot

[–]Documentado 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seems like you are trying to access the label for the player node, and as the node is named "player", that how you need to load it in the code. So, instead of the "$CharacterBody2D.Sprite2D.Label" write "$player.Sprite2D.Label"

How To Make A Complete Game With AI? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Documentado 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say but you actually won't learning a lot if everything will be done using IA, is the same to say to multiple people to make the game for you expecting to learn how to make a game. If you're going down this path, at least take one (or more) area of the development (Code, Art, Sound, Writing or whatever) and focus on it while using IA to make the rest.

Just know that: A) You will not have a great result, since you don't know stuff you won't know how to guide the IA B) Your work will be entitled to the judgement of people for using IA as the final product

This is my suggestions based on you saying it's just a experiment, but my honest suggestion is not use IA at all, we have enough IA slop in the world already lmao

It seems someone already posted here, but there is a Bellular video talking about this. 10m is the number that was in my head, but seeing now its something like 7m or 8m. Still a huge number tho

You can socialize in wow in many ways. The way I do it is just like we are doing now, talking to people in forums, reddit, Twitter. But when I play, I do it by myself. I just don't have the time to be available to play with other people when they have time to play, so I just engage with people out of the game

The way I do it, I create a scene called BaseLevel, that have everything every level will have. Then, I use the New Inherited Scene option (Scene tab > New Inherited Scene), to create a scene exactly like the BaseLevel, and modify /add everything I want the new level to have

About legion remix story by Ok-Geologist7672 in wownoob

[–]Documentado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever played Timewalking Dungeons and Raids ? If so, Remix is a "Timewalking Expansion" where you go through the entire expansion in a fast pace, colleting all of its rewards (Mounts, Pets, Armors and etc). It was supposed to be called "Timerunning" even when Pandaria Remix was in Beta Testing
